Nitro Spider’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve not watched this in a while, but I’m happy I gave this a rewatch because this still holds up very well. It’s just such a perfect film if you ask me. I think Into is slightly better as a film, but I still think it’s a top tier masterpiece.
Stunning visuals, incredible voice acting, great writing that expands on the first film and challenges the characters in incredible ways as all good sequels should do, a cliffhanger that somehow manages to make the film feel complete and not insulting, a phenomenal score with fantastic original songs, idk man, idk what else I’m supposed to tell you. It’s just the best.
Sure you can maybe poke holes in the Canon event thing, but I think there’s enough there to justify it or explain it. Even if Miguel is absolutely wrong about the whole thing, just a fact lol.
Overall, yep, still a masterpiece. Still up there as a gold standard of what superhero films should be imo.
10/10
On BTSV, it may be years away, but I’m gonna be patient. The wait will be worth it and I know they’ll deliver a satisfying end to what will hopefully be the best superhero trilogy or best animated trilogy of all time. You can’t rush art.
