Whereas the first movie reflected the rawness and street level urgency of early LA punk, this movie dives into the over the top theatricality and general vapidity of late 80s LA hair metal (Lemmy and, dare I say it, Mustaine excepted). So many deluded, narcissistic, and ultimately forgettable and forgotten bands…

This said, the most batshit crazy person in the whole movie is that probation officer who runs the “de-metalling” program. A close second is W.A.S.P.’s Chris Holmes who pours half a bottle of vodka into his mouth and brags in front of his mom about being an alcoholic and banging four women at once.
