Owen Henderson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Went back to watch a childhood film and now I want to jump off a cliff with no wings.
If you wanted a American military industrial complex propaganda film to show your kids, this is good I guess. There's also nazi owls enslaving the lower races and even the "good guys" refer to them as the Pure Ones which is really fuckin' weird.
Why was there a big gay owl with a twink bf but also you can't explicitly make them gay because it's 2010. None of the other characters outside of Chosen White One mattered even though they pretended they were going to do something? Why did we have the little girl owl named chlamydia or whatever be a navigator but the never navigate or do anything other than whimper and hide behind the Strong Man.
Also you get to watch an incel owl get groomed by Makima Owl and its all incredibly uncomfortable.
Dogshit empty film with blaring mindless default film tracks, narrative that bounces around doing nothing, but hey the cgi is fun to look at until it slows down time and you watch the owl mew at the camera in slomo.
Why did the parents not show up until the end to congratulate their son on killing his brother...?
