August Bank Holiday at the PCC: A Four Day Cinematic Journey!

Whether your life is smooth sailing to infinity and beyond or in absolute shambles, one thing is true: the August Bank Holiday is coming up. And with it, a predictably eclectic holiday programme at the PCC, full of absolute classics across the movie spectrum.

Below you will find stories to make you laugh, cry, scream, gasp, and travel through space and time. Over the weekend, we'll see the likes of TAXI DRIVER, PULP FICTION, TOY STORY, LOST HIGHWAY, BABE and BABE: PIG IN THE CITY, SATANTANGO, ENTER THE DRAGON, DRIVE, THE MIDDLE EARTH MARATHON featuring both THE HOBBIT TRILOGY and THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY back-to-back in one near 24-hour marathon session, and a weekend-long presentation of the entire STAR WARS Skywalker Saga in narrative order, from A NEW HOPE to THE RISE OF SKYWALKER!

FRIDAY 23rd AUGUST
Starting the evening of Friday 23rd August we have a super selection to start your sunny weekend. In our downstairs screen from 17:45 we have two back-to back classics for you with the imperious Martin Scorsese directed, Paul Schrader written TAXI DRIVER followed by Tarantino's magnum-opus in PULP FICTIONBoth are showing from 35mm. Then, upstairs from 18:00, we're kicking off our Weekend with STAR WARS – where we will see every Stars Wars movie in narrative order - with THE PHANTOM MENACE and ATTACK OF THE CLONES.


SATURDAY 24th AUGUST
Then, on Saturday 24th August, you can really get your Star Wars fix, as our Weekend with the Skywalker Saga moves on to screenings of REVENGE OF THE SITH and the original Trilogy of A NEW HOPETHE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI. Amongst that goodness, you can take in a Hard of Hearing Subtitled performance of TOY STORY, the Timothy Dalton James Bond classic LICENCE TO KILL and David Lynch's trippy mystery thriller LOST HIGHWAY.


SUNDAY 25th AUGUST
On Sunday 25th August, we finish up the Skywalker Saga with the most recent trilogy of films with THE FORCE AWAKENSTHE LAST JEDI and THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Sunday will also bring a make your own Double Feature opportunity with Chris Noonan George Miller's (the man who brought you the Mad Max franchise) BABE and BABE : PIG IN THE CITY, as well as two marathon events – the utterly epic MIDDLE EARTH MARATHON that sees both THE HOBBIT and THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogies screening back-to-back over the course of nearly 24-hours, and the return of THE B-MOVIE MYSTERY MARATHON featuring 5 random and super fun B-Movies classics in one night!


MONDAY 26th AUGUST
Finally, on Bank Holiday Monday 26th August, spend your day with more butt-numbing epic kino, as we present Béla Tarr's 7-hour film SÁTÁNTANGÓ from 10am. The day will also bring us a presentation of the nondocumentary WE ARE FUGAZI FROM WASHINGTON, DC, highlighting the iconic post-punk band Fugazi, as well as the Bruce Lee martial arts classic ENTER THE DRAGON in 35mm! We'll close the day and the weekend off with Nicolas Winding Refn's tremendous Ryan Gosling-led neo-noir modern classic, DRIVE in 35mm!
