A six panel comic. In panel 1, a yellow warbler says "Hey, so I'm going to go out on a limb here". For the next four panels, it hops down along a branch. In the last panel, at the end of the branch, it sings a little song. I'm sorry.ALT

Look I have zero excuses for this, but the idea popped into my head and now it's in your head, sorry

pacific rim fucks severely for a lot of reasons but my favorite is that it opens with "the lizard aliens are unionizing so we built robots running on the power of love to fight them you got all that right" and before you have time to really process that concept bam gunshot body on the floor and the movie goes "now consider the vast power of grief in this setup" it never really stops considering

5 simple exercises to awaken dormant muscles

{source}

I appreciate this video a lot--people don't realize how important it is to start slow if you're trying to come back from a completely sedentary lifestyle, and they get really hurt as a result. Straining your muscles too much, too suddenly can land you in the E.R. and the wrong joint injury can permanently affect your mobility, so please start with absolute basics and easy stretches!

okay I need to know about this, please reblog and also share in notes if there's some nuance I'm missing! (also share in the notes what you were doing at the time of getting rate limited, I'm curious about what might be causing it.)

how often have you gotten rate limited on ao3 in the past month?

more often than once a day

daily

once every couple days

every week or so

less often than that

I haven't gotten rate limited on ao3

I don't go on ao3/I just want to click a button

infinite nuance (explain in the notes?)

when the fic is a rated t one-shot with a 20k+ word count titled something like "the mechanics of turtle migration" with kudos in the low hundreds yk it's gonna hit

I'm finally moving out of Texas and I need help. I hoped that moving out of Dallas would improve things, but the last few months have gone from safe, if uncomfortable, to actively dangerous. several roomates have stopped paying rent, and one of them is often violently unstable, focusing on me and the person I share a room with. on top of my roomates, the political situation in Texas is actively putting myself and my loved ones in danger. I have a job lined up in Washington and hope to move there by the end of the year, I just need help getting there.

People don’t realize how much we sound like other things because we are created from the same laws of physics. “That potato in the microwave sounds like it’s screaming” is funny because it really is, air is vibrating out of a small hole which is how our throat works too. The babbling river that sounds like humans whispering, that’s because it’s a wet hollow cave with echo delivering the same functionality. The river doesn’t just sound like us, we sound like a river. They use a metal trashcan to create a lion’s roar for movie sound effects. But the truth is, not only does a trashcan sound like a lion, a lion sounds like a trashcan. Cars purr when you turn them on. Everything is like everything else. Inanimate objects are not so far away from life as it seems.

Remember the next time you feel more alone in the company of large buildings, or maybe less alone among the rocks of the river, that they are not completely unlike the parts of you.

He's finally warm!

I know most people don't care about anything unless it has to do with the U.S. but can we please start talking about the Canadian election.

Please don't vote for Poilievre. He's basically the Canadian Trump and plans to put in place laws that harm trans youth, and lots of other shit.

Please vote istg this is the only way anything will get better. Poilievre has been kissing millionaires and billionaires asses. He'll make life even harder, and he loves Trump.

Reblogs are appreciated, especially if you aren't Canadian.

This post is about Canada, do not derail or say that "it's worse in America." Canadians are very scared, we deserve to talk about our issues without Americans talking over us.

My Hot Take of the current moment is that cultivating a healthy attention span is good and cool, but I don't believe that doing so takes a one-size fits all solution.

Like I see the discourse surrounding screen time and brain rot and I can't speak a lot on that. But it's all very persuasive, so I had been trying to focus solely on a movie or book while engaging with it.

And sometimes it works. Which is cool! But also I recently realized that's actually never how my brain worked. Before I had a smart phone and before the modern reign of corporate social media, I absolutely multi-tasked while engaging with everything. I used to read a manga while watching cartoons. I have seen a ton of movies just because I played them while writing or drawing in the background. And I venture to say I was absorbed most of them and was touched by many, even if I was doing something else at the time. Also sometimes a movie would be so good I would forget about the other thing I was doing, which I think is a fun feeling. It's cool when art can make you do that.

I don't really write to movies anymore, though I'll occasionally write to video essays or podcasts. But I decided to let myself draw when I want to or something while watching a movie, and it makes it a lot easier to feel absorbed in the movie. It sounds weird, but it's how my brain works. Doing something with my hands lowers my defenses and actually lets me fall into the atmosphere of what I'm watching.

I don't know man, brains are weird. If you have to work in an unconventional way to enjoy something I don't necessarily think that's brainrot gen Z cancer or whatever. Variety is good, but like even if I'm watching a movie in a theater I'll bring a stim of some kind.

I'm watching a movie right now, actually. Cynthia Scott's The Company of Strangers. It's like Lord of the Flies but with old women in the pastorial countryside and they're so far considerably chiller with each other. I'm only like 10 minutes in but I like it a lot so far.

ive gotta say people on the internet being honest about what they find hot in people's bodies and behaviors has done more for my body image issues than any body-positivity mantra ever. thank you people on the internet for being horny about literally every possible part and variation of the human body and for sharing it

So, in Brazilian, USAmerican, and LGBT+ politics news, transgender Brazilian congresswoman Erika Hilton has received from the USA a visa marking her gender as male.

Hilton canceled a trip she was going to make to the US this month, where she was going to participate on Saturday (12) in a panel at the Brazil Conference, and says she will take action against US President Donald Trump at the UN (United Nations) because she considers the case to be transphobic and disrespectful of her Brazilian civil records.

UPDATE: fellow transgender Brazilian congresswoman Duda Salabert has been informed her visa will also register her as male.

"More than transphobia, there is a question of national sovereignty involved: it is not up to the US government to disagree with and refute Brazil's documents," she said.
