Dracula: I turned the woman who has a best friend who saw me and is still out there and who has a small army of men in love with her and a weird Dutchman who knows about vampires who's been protecting her. Another victory for the Prince of Darkness.

Dracula: (gets doxxed less than a week later)

cry-ptidd:

Dracula: I’ve spent MONTHS planning this. I analyzed the group hunting me and deduced the woman as the biggest threat; thus, I have destroyed her spirit by attacking and biting her, which will turn her into my perfect spy and loyal jackal.

hey! donate to uk trans charities today because it’s gonna be a rough one

  • non-un-topo

Folks in the UK, could we have some trusted links to charities?

  • raedear

There's Mermaids which is always a great option, and then Scotland-specific there's LGBT Youth Scotland, to give you just a couple. There will absolutely be more that other people can suggest though!

  • rooksunday

switchboard.lgbt and akt.org.uk are two i regularly support, and there’s always stonewall !

  • mosswolf

trans aid cymru is a mutual aid group rather than a charity but ill always shout them out for wales specific trans community support! they have a donation page here

Scottish Trans Alliance do good work, and more locally to me and also locally to the evil billionaire funding so much of this (we are deeply uneasy neighbours I live in constant fear of seeing her) and also Parliament, Resisting Transphobia in Edinburgh do a lot of community work. Resistance is everywhere, both national and local, official and grassroots, and if you have no money spare to donate then you can donate time, if you have neither you can - you Must - reach out to even just one trans person near you, because community starts with smiling at your neighbours, knowing names, noticing if they're struggling. I survived thanks to one queer person I never knew the name of and spoke barely one sentence to taking 10 minutes out of their day to drop off an LGBTQ youth centre flier for me back in 2016. It starts small. It moves mountains. We are not budging an inch. I love you.

(I know this discourse is like a week old at this point but I'm making this post anyway 😤) Seeing people complain about the wigs in Cinderella's Castle was insane like y'all wouldn't have survived og Starkid fr. I mean in AVPM, Dumbledore's beard wasn't even on his face and you're complaining about seeing some of the wig lace on one of Bryce's like 5 wigs??? We used to have this

    image

    and you're complaining about this??

    image

Please guys it's a stage show! With costume changes and wig changes! The wigs need to be easy to put on and off, and I honestly don't know what else they could've done to make it look better. They couldn't exactly cut the lace super short and glue the wigs on her head or anything because again, she has multiple wig changes throughout the show.

Anyway, I loved Cinderella's Castle and the costumes and wigs were some of the best Starkid has ever had

Oh, and by the way, that Supreme Court ruling is where that Harry Potter money goes.

  • what-are-fish

This isn't even a slight exaggeration. JKR has openly given at least £70,000 to For Women Scotland to campaign against trans rights and fund this exact supreme court ruling. x x

Her anti-trans Crisis Centre in Edinburgh has the director of For Women Scotland on the Board of Directors. x

We can presume she's given more (financial) support off the record or in other ways.

Rowling consistently makes passive income on all Harry Potter products. Multiple sources have cited that Rowling earns anywhere between $50 million to a $100 million each year from royalties. Forbes estimated she earned $95 million in 2017 alone. x x x

It is a well-known fact that she earns net profit percentages on all her IP. Every time you buy any HP merch, from anywhere, she gets a cut. Every time you watch one of her films, even streaming or just on the tv, she gets a cut. Every time you visit Universal Studios or Harry Potter World, she gets a cut.

And she uses that money to do this. To strip trans rights at every opportunity.

This is where that Harry Potter money goes.

not to be a theatre design student about it but i am LOVING the costumes.

Ella's dress is stunning, genuinely. the colours, the patching??? like it's been ripped and repaired but also distinctly intentional??? placed specifically and embroidered like she's still trying to make the best of things???

and green was an amazing choice. looks absolutely stunning on bryce charles, and contrasts perfectly with the pinks and the reds of most of the ensemble - a great way to demonstrate she's a misfit right away. neutral and pale, but still bright enough to be interesting and bring attention. hell yes!!!!

and the white underdess is so pretty? the ruffles are so cute, both on the sleeves and the skirt. it works so well with the scrappy dress, and oh my god dies it look stunning under the posh one. one of the best quick changes i've ever seen (I haven't even mentioned having the cubbies on stage. i'm such a fan of non-naturalistic plays and having props and costumes on stage is so cool)

and while i'm on the topic of the posh dress, i love the patterning. still the contrasting green, except now one that compliments her friends perfectly. the friends are matching, and slightly more saturated, as the Actually Upper Class ones, whereas Ella's dark green is a little more understated, and shows off her same underdress - this is only a costume over who she really is these days

jesus i should write about this in my live theatre essay

also jeff blim looks insanely good
