French labels just from English ones?

Hi. I see you setting French labels. However, I don't see how you determine them. E.g.for persons, do you just copy the English labels? This won't work in all cases. So fictional character Wilma Flintstone's french name is Wilma Pierrafeu, and e.g. real monarch's names might be translated as well, while names from non-Latin scripts might be transcribed differently. If my assumptions about your way to work are right, it might be a good idea to at least check other existing labels. E.g. in Wilma's example, German and Spanish labels differ from the English one, which does make it likely that another labels is not necessarily simply identical to the English one. --YMS (talk) 18:55, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi @YMS: I come here after the same observation, although more than 8 years later. I found that this problem persisted until 2015 (and I don't know if it continued later). In all cases, I also ask for the same attention: French is a different language to English, subject to different standards. @Thieol: please avoid putting the English transcription on the French labels. Il utilise l'expression « politicienne américain » pour les femmes politiques, par ex. Martha Roby, Edna F. Kelly, etc. Voir la liste des contribs en date du 15 juin 2013 en soirée. Bonjour ! Par hasard je suis tombée sur des articles avec des descriptions faites par ce bot et je me suis aperçue qu'il y avait pas mal de fautes de français… qu'il serait plus facile de corriger par bot :

• « suèdois » est utilisé au lieu de « suédois »
• « norvègienne » au lieu de « norvégienne »

En passant par le rapport de contrainte de P487, je viens de tomber sur beer stein (Q1412822). Je suis très étonné par la description ajouté par ton robot ? Où a-t-il été cherché qu'une chope est une unité de volume ? Je n'ai jamais entendu parler de cela et surtout cela ne semble pas correspondre au sujet des articles (mais je me demande si il n'y a pas un problème ou tout au moins une confusion avec tankard (Q3446398)).

le problème vient du fait qu'il est dans la catégorie unité de volume sur le wikipédia allemand. Même si ce n'est pas totalement faux, ce n'est pas très adéquate comme description. Je l'ai donc changée à la main. Cdlt, Thieol (talk) 0:50, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Stop adding labels to new movies

Please stop adding labels in different languages to new movies if they are the same as the original titles. When movies are new and not released in other countries, the Wikipedia articles all use the original title. But when they are released in the different countries, they often get local titles. But if you have already added the original title as "local" title in a language, other bots do not realize that the real local title of the movie is missing and it will not be added to the Wikidata item. So people have to manually check all the new movies at Wikidata to update the labels to the real local title. This would not be necessary if you stopped adding original titles as lables in other languages. --92.72.192.56 08:58, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Vu que ce bot n'est plus actif depuis 2016 c'est peut-être un peu vain mais je signale tout de même qu'« historietista » signifie en espagnol « auteur de bande dessinée » et non « historien ».
