Thanks for the hard work, changing descriptions one by one via mobile is not an easy job. It would be nice if you limit it to items that don't have descriptions yet, so you won't get overwhelmed.

Descriptions that have been made specific do not need to be made general again. For example, the description of the island that has been made "pulau di nama kabupaten/kota, nama provinsi" (en: "island in regency/city name, province name") does not need to be changed back to "pulau di Indonesia" (en: "island in Indonesia") because there are several reasons why it should be made in that pattern:

1. There are many islands with the same name in Indonesia (2234 same island names out of 16995 islands based on data in Kemendagri 100.1.1-6117/2022 alone), while Wikidata requires the name+description to be unique. So that only one island can be descripted as "pulau di Indonesia", it would be unfair to other islands that have the same name. Try searching for Pulau Panjang, Pulau Burung, Pulau Tengah, or Pulau Babi on Wikidata... which one would we describe as "island in Indonesia"? Are the others not an island in Indonesia?

2. The patterns in the descriptions are also useful for finding duplicates that already exist in Wikidata during mass imports from various Wikipedias because they use different sources such as GeoNames, DPKI, Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Ministry of Home Affairs, etc. The description "islands in Indonesia" / "pulau di Indonesia" are widely used during such mass imports, so it could be an indicator that items with this descriptions have not yet been checked.

Neat descriptions are certainly useful but not more important than valid data, if the neatness of the description can help during data validation, why not. --Danil Satria (talk) 11:01, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

I suspect an unapproved bot, judging from the frequency of editing and stupidity of the descriptions (everything is "pulau di Indonesia"). What would be the point to do such edits manually? Please block. Mohon blokir akun ini. Taylor 49 (talk) 22:05, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

They write "Kepulauan Greenland" (Greenland Islands) in Wikidata item of Q223, which is not generally considered as islands but constituent country within Kingdom of Denmark. They also often write description like "Suku bangsa di Indonesia" (Ethnic group in Indonesia) in article of Pribumi-Indonesia, which is not an ethnic group but many ethnic groups indigenous to Indonesia.
