Summary:They meet at a new faculty orientation, two weeks before term starts.
It’s at the meet-and-greet for this committee that Jon notices him for the first time. He’d seen him throughout the day, of course, what with only five or so other new faculty at the orientation, but they’d not been partnered up in any of the icebreakers or placed into the same small discussion group during lunch.

It’s Jon’s first year as a professor at Magnus University, where he thinks his fellow committee member is out to get him. Rather, Martin thinks they got off on an awkward foot but reconcile quickly and end up flirting at every meeting.

I’m a few days late because of a chronic illness flare-up, but here’s my final fic for @jonmartinweek this year! It’s for Day 9′s AU prompt, and in this fic, Jon and Martin are professors of wildly different fields. They have a bit of an awkward first meeting and proceed to have a comedy of errors rivals-to-lovers relationship, inspired by @judesstfrancis‘s fic Catching an Edge (which I highly recommend)
I am exceedingly excited to share that, after more than 18 months, I’ve finally finished and posted Chapter 2 of my academic!Jmart AU!
It does unfortunately lack a Martin appearance, but I’ve hopefully set up some more of where we’re going next and given y'all a new friend!
