where did you read/where can i read [insert manga here]?
for starters, it’s always great to support these artists directly by buying their manga; most of the mangaka i post aren’t big names so if you enjoy their work and can afford to support them it genuinely does make a positive difference in their lives. otherwise, i’d recommend a few different venues for reading:
for english-speakers, mangadex has the best collection of scanlated manga out there, and it’s even got some official translations for stuff where the licensing has expired; when mangadex is down or for those who just can’t stand the new ui, mangasee123 is another good option, although i’ve found it’s less robust than mangadex. mangakakalot is a last resort that i wouldn’t use without an effective adblocker.
i’d also recommend torrenting from nyaa and using irc bots from nibl.
you can also use hakuneko to download manga from many different scanlation sites.
if you speak japanese, i also recommend checking out deadscanalations. they have a really robust digital archive of alternative manga, and have digitized many oneshots and volumes of underground japanese comics, particularly from various manga magazines, a lot of which are now defunct. most notably, they have digitized dozens of complete issues of garo magazine which would otherwise be difficult if not impossible for most people to access, and have made all their scans freely available through direct download in the posts on their tumblr linked above.
there are other sites that are less safe to use if you don’t have some experience navigating this stuff already, so i don’t wanna post them publicly, but if you really wanna know feel free to dm me.
have you read [insert manga here]?
you can see most of the manga i’ve read, am reading, and want to read on my anilist. i also have a list of manga i’ve capped; feel free to request a cap from any manga on that list. there’s some stuff missing which isn’t eligable for the database, because anilist has some dumb rules about manhwa, manhua, self-publication/doujinshi, etc., but most of it’s on there.
where do you get your caps from?
they’re all from various manga i’ve read over the years; i’ve been curating images of art from the manga i’ve read since long before i started this blog, actually. the caps come from a combination of ebooks, physical books (that i’ve scanned pages from), and the scanned raws and scanlations of others that are available online. i often edit my caps, but i don’t claim any proprietary stake; anyone is free to use them, no credit necessary (to me, anyway—but please do credit the source material).
has [insert manga here] been translated into english?
you can generally find this information on mangaupdates. bear in mind that many of the manga that i post on here have not been translated (officially or otherwise).
