Great news, guys, I was able to install Gshade for Sims 2 Legacy! 🥳

As I said I tried all the tutorials that are out there for reshade and gshade for Sims 2. Nothing was working for me. By not working I mean that the game wouldn't even launch or launch to main menu and then crash when trying to load a neighborhood.

Then I found out that it's a d3d9.dll file that prevents my game from launching. I started searching and found two articles (one, two) that say that on a new Windows 11 update this exact problem started happening (apps that require DX9 won't launch). Microsoft doesn't say that it has something to do with Nvidia, but users say it may be.

The thing is I'm on Windows 10, so it shouldn't affect me. But I do have Nvidia's gpu. So I decided to roll back my Nvidia's driver. I had 572.70 installed and rolled back to 566.36 (because 572 drivers prior to 572.70 were also broken when your screen could go fully black without any way to fix it).

After that I tried installing reshade and gshade using simple method by choosing vulkan or dxvk when installing. It didn't work. But then I tried the asi loader method and it finally worked! I need to say that I tried using this method before with both reshade and gshade and it didn't work (and I tried it several times). So I assume that rolling back my Nvidia driver have helped me.

I first installed reshade using asi loader following this tutorial, but then decided to try the same method with gshade (because I like it better) and it worked.

I wrote all this in hopes that maybe it can help someone who has the same problem that I had. I know for sure that one user on reddit has this problem, but I don't have a reddit account, so can't reply to them.

If anyone has sims 4 legacy gameplay or stories that have at least 3 gens completed to recommend, hit me up in the comments! Yes, you can recommend yourself. I just need more stuff to binge through (and I will likely follow to know the rest of the story as it comes!)

Also, I am obsessed with looking at other people’s sims at the moment, especially alternative or occult sims, or also diverse sims (sims of color, gender nonconforming, etc) so if you know someone who posts a lot of CAS pictures or cool edits, also comment their name so I can follow them, please!

I prefer maxis match or maxis mix aesthetic :)
