I request for bureaucrat access for all sister projects of wikipedia. Or at least sysop status for these projects.

before making any objection please keep in mind that I was the 1st bureaucrat and 2nd sysop at Urdu wikipedia with now more then 3000 edits [2]

Thank you. Wisesabre 08:46, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Not done for now. 1) You posted on all three projects today. You would need to wait about 7 days (unless the community has a different timeframe agreed upon for this); 2) community approval for your access (even if by means of lack of opposition) needs to be decided on each local project. Please do not ask any of the communities to post any opposition here on Meta. This is not the place for any given community to discuss whether or not you should be granted the access. Please reformulate your posts on all three projects, wait the 7 days, and we will see what happens. Thank you. Redux 12:59, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I would like to add to that that you should place your request on a place where the community can find it. And maybe it would be good to have the poll as well in urdu, i dont know how many of them speak english? But use an existing community page if no admin-page exists yet. (you created the page once at least yourself, what is imho not the way to go. ) Effeietsanders 14:07, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
I have now rewrote my request on all 3 projects, asking them to give me votes there. With Support/Oppose sub headings. Plus I have placed a notice on community portal of each project. Up till now all contributers of urdu wikipedia can speak/understand english. Wisesabre 06:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
It might be me, but if i check "what links here" I see no links to the wiktionary nor to the wikiquote page which are relevant to this. :S Effeietsanders 16:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Scots Wikipedia

I have been a Wikipedian since 2001 and I am an administrator on the English Wikipedia, an administrator and co-founder of the Scots Wikipedia and a bureaucrat on the Scots Gaelic Wikipedia. Once again I am requesting bureaucrat access on sco.wikipedia for sco:User:Mendor. This was previously refused because we are too small despite unanimous support for him and despite the fact that size has is only loosely correlated with level of activity or the need for a bureaucrat. However we have been swamped by bots for the last few months and can do nothing about them because we lack a bureaucrat. It is essential that we have one. Thus I am making this request again:

Thanks -- Derek Ross 22:09, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

You can block users as an administrator, too, and both of you seem to be active (sco:Special:Listusers/sysop). As explained on bureaucrats, a bureaucrat does only have the ability to grant bot status, sysop & bureaucrat status and can rename users. At the moment, there seems to be no special need for that; if such things are required, you can ask here. I'd recommend you to make a vote, as far as I can see there has not been a bureaucrat vote for you yet. Greetings, —Pill δ 05:50, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I understand that I can block people but the bots do useful work so I don't particularly want to block them. They just need to be hidden and there definitely is a need for that as you can confirm if you look at the recent changes for the last few weeks. -- Derek Ross 19:03, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I've understood so far but nevertheless you could make a vote for bureaucratship, I guess. The interwiki bots that are operating right now should be granted bot status, but I don't think this is really urgent so you should make a new vote. Greetings, —Pill δ 20:33, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I don't mean to be difficult and I completely agree that the need for a bureaucrat is not urgent but I must point out that I have already organised a vote, received unanimous support for the candidate, and still been refused (because, apparently, the Scots Wikipedia is "too small"). Nothing much has changed on the Scots Wikipedia in the intervening period, so if I organise another vote, and receive unanimous support for the candidate again, I doubt that we will have any more participants in the vote than last time. Thus I would expect that once again we would be refused. Even if we were to have more participants than last time, I have no idea what the minimum number is supposed to be (because none has been specified on this page). Yet the need for a bureaucrat on the Scots Wikipedia, urgent or not, still persists. In this situation is it really surprising that I wish to appeal to the common sense of the stewards rather than relying on a process which has proven to be time-consuming, arbitrary and unpredictable when I have tried to follow it to the letter on a previous occasion ? -- Derek Ross 05:45, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Required number of votes for bureaucrat elections is fixed by the local project community, very small projects often do not even have a minumum number of votes required for granting the status, the decision whether the candidate is given the status required is made by the stewards then. Nevertheless, since community seems to be quite small so far, possibly he will be granted (temporary) bureaucrat status. —Pill δ 14:50, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
So what's the status on this request?drini 21:55, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Please hold a new election to make sure consensus has not changed. Bureaucrat access will be granted promptly upon confirming consensus, barring no unforeseen circumstances. Thanks. —{admin} Pathoschild 22:21, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Okay people, That's great. I'll start the check for consensus later today. Merry Christmas to all. -- Derek Ross 07:15, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Not done. I'm sorry, but CheckUser is a very sensitive access. There is a strict policy governing who can use it as described at CheckUser policy: there must be at least 25 supporting editors with a minimum of 70% approval. However, users on the Dhivehi Wikipedia can request CheckUser information in #wikimedia-stewards on the freenode IRC network or at Requests for CheckUser information. —{admin} Pathoschild 05:23, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks --No onelse 13:11, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

No, there cannot be "only one" checkuser on the local wiki. Policy says we can't give checkuser yet on that wiki, but we stewards can help you if have checkuser requests, as we do have it. drini [es:] [commons:] 15:18, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Removal of rights

Removal of access

You may request that your own access be removed here; stewards will grant such requests immediately if you provide proof that you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki. This may be accomplished most easily by placing a note in English on your local talk page confirming your request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

ksh:User:Düüvelskääl promoted his mate ksh:User:Caesius a bureaurocrat against a voting result. A new voting was held with the result to dismiss ksh:User:Caesius. A voting is going to dismiss ksh:User:Düüvelskääl. ksh:User:Caesius keeps altering the voting page against him and does not want to accept the result. 1/2 a day ago, ksh:User:Caesius has write-proteced the voting page against his friend ksh:User:Düüvelskääl with an edit comment: "to create some piece and quiete for him until we have changed the rules" - in his favour, one must be afraid. --Peterretep 21:16, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

A German steward should dig into this i am afraight. Effeietsanders 22:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
  • The voting page has been unproteced by ksh:User:Caesius again already, so the complainant can vote now. (Update: it seems, he did already)
  • I think, the edit comment should be understood/translated differently. - The voting process to dismiss ksh:User:Düüvelskääl as a sysop+bureaurocrat was initiated few days ago, and since today, we have another process going, so as to revise and establish new/better voting rules. - Unfortunate timing.
  • Wether or not ksh:User:Caesius was elected in the repeated voting process is under debate (unclear votes, some deny certain users rights to vote momentarily, etc.) there is still time left to complain, complaints are not processed yet, so the result "not elected" is not final yet. Currently, the phase to rise complaints is set to end Tuesday midnight (UTC).
  • I don't see need for action any time earlier, and likely not thereafter. --Purodha Blissenbach 22:48, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Romanian Wikipedia

I request to have sysop AND checkuser permissions removed from me. Currently, that would leave a single user with checkuser permissions, but on one hand he has gained the trust of the community, by being for instance recently promoted bureaucrat and on the other hand I'll inform them about my decision and urge them to hold new elections for another checkuser.

Thank you. Vlad 11:27, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

I think either both should keep CU untill replacement for you has been found, either both should be removed untill new elections have been held. I leave it up to another steward to make the final decision, but I tend to think that the first option is the best. Effeietsanders 12:10, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
As we had to deal with vandals and sockpuppets in the past, for which CU proved to be a valuable tool, it might be wise not to remove from both of us. Like I've said, I've informed the community about my decision and mentioned the need for new elections: http://ro.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Discu%C5%A3ie_Wikipedia%3ASfatul_B%C4%83tr%C3%A2nilor&diff=815697&oldid=814994 Thank you very much Effeietsanders for your help so far! --Vlad 12:17, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Policy is: if no 2 local checkusers, then no checkuser. So if you lose it, the other also will. However, people can still request stewards to use checkuser to help that wiki (even thought no local checkusers will exist) drini [es:] [commons:] 19:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
The proposal was now: leave both as CU, and remove the sysop-bit. After elections, Vlad can be replaced by the newly elected person. Effeietsanders 23:47, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Precisely, that was my proposal. As you can see, elections for checkuser are in progress: http://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Candida%C5%A3i#Candidaturi_pentru_statutul_de_checkuser --Vlad 10:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to ask you for a sysop status in order to correct the interface and title of the Aromanian Wikipedia. As you know, I am a native speaker of Aromanian, and have dealt with the problem of the language and have translated most of the articles on this Wikipedia in a standardized language, according to the International Conference in Bitola. I have also worked (with my team) for the affirmation of the language on the Internet, for example [www.proel.org/mundo/macedoru.htm Lengua del Mundo - Aromunico]. I hope that based on this, I would get the status of sysop (even for a temporary period) to fix the correct interface. I thank you all for your support and I wish you all much luck in your life and work. Dumitrachi T. Fundu, PhD President of Eea "Moscopole-Crushuva" To respect the rules: I request Wikipedia sysop status for Aromanian wikipedia:

Thank you - Haristo, Eeamoscopolecrushuva 12:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Done - I make you temp sysop for 3 months. Expire date:2007-02-15. To stay sysop make sure that you follow the normal procedure by then (= ask it localy and ask it here then again when you have support)
If you are requesting sysop status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki-project. That is a project for making a neutral MediaWiki translation that then will be default for all wikis. That is more useful than making only a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list of MediaWiki translation. --Walter Do you have news? Report it to Wikizine 13:27, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
