Administrator access

IgorT@ukwiki

The following discussion is closed.
Not done. As said above, uk.wiki has own bureaucrats. LeinaD (t) 15:52, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
There are 3 reasons to decline this request:
  1. there is not-closed voting about IgorT now;
  2. uk-wiki has 3 bureaucrats;
  3. Prima klasy4na (aka Ink) is famous Ukrainian troll.--Ahonc 21:49, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
  • I think, that asking for explain the rules, asking why Ukrainian sysops and bureaucrats doing actions against rules and why Ukrainian Wikipedia has no some writhing ruler is not trolling. Ahonc is famous Ukrainian пибалабол.--Prima klasy4na 01:59, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Stewards do not decide, that is not their job. Also IgorT's request for adminship currently has less community support then necessary (68.6% instead of 70% needed). I do not see how stewards can do this, if it is against our local rules and we have 3 active bureaucrats — NickK 10:17, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Sysop flag granted --Mardetanha talk 07:47, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I wouldn't normally comment, but I saw the log on RecentChanges. In my experience, it's usually good form to remove the Rollbacker right when granting admin status, because it's redundant. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 08:30, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't matter. The user can do it later on himself or also every admin. Barras 08:35, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I already did it as soon as Mard gave the flag ;) Pmlineditor  08:38, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

hello two request seems valid for me , but request for Tiptoety has 71 % in favor, which is not enough , what is your policy for minimum requirements for adminship --Mardetanha talk 15:43, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Flag granted --Mardetanha talk 15:53, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
To answer your question, there is no set in stone "minimum". But after looking over the talk page, it links to Simple Wikipedia's policy which states: "Generally, at least 65% of the votes cast need to be in support of a candidate to indicate a consensus for the adminship request to succeed". Cheers, Tiptoety talk 16:41, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
That is good to know , please keep the discussion open for at least one week , then refile this request , thanks for your consideration --Mardetanha talk 16:52, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Masterches@htwiki

I tend to decline this. You have not been active on the wiki in the past 3 months. And please inform the community before you request temp sysopship. The page you linked only contains your request from June 2009. --თოგო (D) 10:44, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
i follow the contributions made on the wiki and bring enhancements each time it is possible-you can look at my homepage to see the work that has been done; i should log in before each contributions of mine in order to have higher statistics ...
many things have been done to maintain contributions on the wiki but the community is still poor; there are a small increasing on anonymous contributions but the take-off is not spectacular yet.
Please remember to sign your posts with "~~~~", it sets a good example as you grow your community. I agree with Thogo that you should be a visible contributor to the wiki you want a temporary adminship on... Perhaps it's as simple as remembering to log in so we can see your work. Perhaps come back in a few weeks? ++Lar: t/c 01:07, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
i don't know why coming back in a few weeks, my contributions are on my homepage (homepage), on my discussion panel (ht:Diskisyon_Itilizatè:Masterches), on the log there ([1]); i'm not an inexperienced user ...it's my fourth application for this post and the reasons invoqued each time for not having a longer adminship are "community is too small to give you more than 6 or 3 months"; do explain me what the problem is now... Masterches 10:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Because when we go to your contribs on htwiki we see only 5 edits since June. That's not very many. If you aren't working there much or at all, do you need a temp sysopship there? I'd be inclined to say no. But you also said you were contributing but forgot to log in.... so, try to remember to log in and come back in a few weeks so we can see what you do there, that's my thinking. Other stewards may have a different view. ++Lar: t/c
Done to expire on 2010-01-12. Please use edit summaries more often as well.--Jusjih 02:57, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Nesnad@chr.wikipedia

I have been adding what I can (touch ups and polishing and even two new stub pages) to the Cherokee Wikipedia for the last few days. I noticed people are complaining it is not active enough, and I also noticed the main page design hasn't been touched since 2005 (!!) although there have been edits after that, the current front page is in it's 2005 state. I spent quite awhile putting together a main page that more accurately represents the current version of Cherokee Wikipedia and avoids the major influx of English currently on the front page (which kind of goes against the idea of having a Cherokee Wikipedia if it's going to be in English) but the front page is protected. I am requesting admin rights or even just the main page to be unprotected for awhile, or anything like that which could help me on my clean up and refurbishing journey on Cherokee Wikipedia. (I tried there, but it's too quiet for someone to help me out there with the unprotecting it seems.) Cheers, Nesnad 13:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Well, the main page has been unprotected. As you've only been actively editing Cherokee Wikipedia for about a week now I suggest not giving you admin rights right now as you can edit the main page anyway. If you need admin rights in the future you can simply ask for them again. --Erwin 09:20, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
ᏩᏙ! Thanks! :) I didn't need admin rights, I have never aspired to such heights. I simply want to add value to our projects, and with the page unprotected for now I think it can help to bring Cherokee Wikipedia forward! Thanks a bunch, Nesnad 15:03, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Me again! I didn't think I would need to have admin rights, but I am trying to add an input letter strip for those who don't have a Cherokee keyboard (like the Navajo wikipedia) but it won't let me because I don't have the rights. Would it be possible to give me temporary admin rights so I can make those changes? (I hope someone sees this so I don't have to bother you with another request.) Cheers, Nesnad 19:48, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

This is only 8 votes, which is a significantly lower bar than what we usually see. --FiliP ██ 07:56, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
It was two weeks voting and community was informed by central notice. He is the most trusted user of bs.wiki with more than 24000 edits. By the circumstances that we have only one check user hwo is quite active (Kal-El) and the other who is active from time to time (Demicx), by the rule of two checkusers per project, we have made election for the case that Demicx resigns. As you know, our community is not the greatest, but the most active users have vote and there is no vote against. Where is the problem? --Seha 08:05, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
CheckUser policy clearly states "... and with at least 25-30 editors' approval, the user should ...". 8 votes is just too few. I know that bswiki community is quite small and I know Smooth O personally, but even still, I think that maybe bswiki should stop having CUs, since the community is not too large at this point. --FiliP ██ 08:12, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I don´t agree. You know which problems of vandalism we have on all south slavic wikies with sock puppets. We have also started desysoping of inactive sysops before implementation of global sysops. I think that it can be useful for such an admin like Smooth O to have this tool. The other reason is something what i spoke with Millosh, like on sr. wiki, we would try to separate the ´crat and CU function in future and not to became the same problems like hr.wiki. Transfering the CU function to meta and to stewards is not such a problem, but a project with such nationalistic vandalism like our deserve own CU. The most vandalism comes from IP with an dynamic pool. We had situations where half of Serbia or Croatia and even BiH was blocked. It is not like a CU work on other projects where abuse of accounts was made just for votes and discussion, and you know it. Even if stewards oppose this election, bs.wiki needs own CU for faster progress of requests. If you and other stewards wants, I can make larger election to get those 25 votes, and in case of Smooth O, I don´t think that there will be opposing votes. But thats just a longer timeline which will not have any influence to the desicion. --Seha 08:33, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
We gonna extend the election timeline and make a new voting. Please close until it´s done. THX --WizardOfOz 15:41, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Good, because 8 votes is far too few if policy says 25-30. ++Lar: t/c 09:16, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

OK, my protest goes here too: there was no notification of this prior to desysoping, neither there was a notification to the involved people they were being voted about. Despite being active on the project I was some days ago surprised with a message on my talk page saying I was not sysop anymore. Just like for project closures here on Meta, there should have been a notification to affected people prior to this. As ChristianH says above "some sysop can reappear and do the sufficient number of [sysop] actions". As I was not aware of this new "thing", I didn't "reappear" ('reappering' here in the sense blocking someone, or deleting a page, things a sysop only can do, not editing pages). Cheers, Malafaya 17:32, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
P.S. I'm not trying here to get the sysop status back, just to make my point on something I believe was not well conducted. I don't intend to be sysop again. Thanks.

Our policy provides for removing admins who get more 解任 (remove) votes than 留任 (keep) votes (「解任」票数が「留任」票数を上回った場合は解任). In other words, an admin needs at least 50% supports to be reconfirmed. Bubba hotep@enwiki

Can I also request confirmation that I can get access back upon request (i.e. user in good standing requesting removal of permissions not under controversial circumstances). Bubba hotep 22:00, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
We can only remove it for you , getting back the flag needs to be proceed by local procedure and local policy --Mardetanha talk 22:11, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Per local policy, an administrator in good standing that requests the removal of their own administrator rights can request that their administrator status be restored at any time by a local bureaucrat. – Katerenka (talk • contribs) 22:20, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Anyway it is not something that we can do it through meta , granting back should be done locally , we only can remove --Mardetanha talk 22:23, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Right, I was trying to alleviate Bubba hotep's concerns. :) Sorry for the mixup. – Katerenka (talk • contribs) 22:28, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
I think they were asking whether this would count as "not under controversial circumstances" -- however that is not up to stewards. If you are worried, please ask an enwiki 'crat. I'll wait to do it until you confirm.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 02:52, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm not an enwiki 'crat, but as a long-term admin who's very familiar with that project's standards and policies WRT adminship, I can confirm that your resignation would without question be considered "uncontroversial". –Juliancolton | Talk 03:43, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I am an enwiki 'crat and yes, this is utterly without controversy and should Bubba decide to request the admin flag back then it would be returned post-haste. The Rambling Man 10:22, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Servien and Tomgreep@nlwiki

At the Dutch-language Wikipedia, all admins are evaluated after a year and lose their adminship when they get less than 75% support from the community (nl:WP:RRM). In the most recent quarterly evaluation round, two admins got less than 75% support and will therefore lose their adminship: nl:User:Servien and nl:User:Tomgreep. (A third user, nl:User:Mwpnl, also got less than 75% support, but he has already voluntarily relinquished his adminship.) Please remove sysop access for Servien and Tomgreep. Sysops@huwikipedia

The community opted for a new rule in hu.wikipedia – voted and approved here –, that any sysop with less than 10 actions in the last 12 months or no action at all in the last 6 months must be desysopped. There will be a grace period of 3 months starting from September 28, 2009 for inactive admins to reactivate themselves.

But from all the sysops in this condition, 2 had specifically indicated that they have no time for WP at the moment & for the near future, namely:

So please remove their sysop rights. Thx. Bennó 20:30, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello Tuinui, since there seems not to be a local community for a voting we can not grant permantent sysopship, I have granted You six months this time, because You already had several temporary permissions, expires: 18-09-2009 please remember to translate the interface at betawiki: only and to upload images preferably to commons:, please come back a few days before the status expires to prolong it or hold a local voting if the community grows, thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:57, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Seagull.Stefanos@el.wikiquote

Hello there! I'm a user of the Greek edition of Wikipedia for the last 6 months. During the last approx.40 days I'm also user of the Greek edition of Wikiquote. Unfortunatelly there were only 3 administrators there, and all of them probably have no time to spend for this. The thing is that there are things to change, for instance in the "Main Page" of "Wiki-fthegmata" (Wikiquote in greek). I asked for help from administrators of Greek Wikipedia and they told me that I have to ask for a temporary permission here... So, is this the right place? ;-) Can you help me, please?!... By the way: Which is the meaning of "temporary"? How fast have I to do all the changes, before the permission will be expired? --Seagull.Stefanos 07:09, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Done -- permission granted for three months, since the other three admins are indeed very inactive. If at some point a community of active users (even, say, five or six people) develops, then you can look into getting permanent adminship, and if not then we can renew your temporary permissions after three months. Cheers — Dan | talk 07:18, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello, again! The three months have almost pass and for this reason I'm asking you either to renew my temporary permission or to give me permanent adminship, as (probably!) no one else express the will to help Greek Wikiquotes. I'm planning to make some more changes & addings in the project, during the next (summer/holiday) months... Thanks in advance! --Seagull.Stefanos 06:40, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
