Fuck it, I feel like bragging about a (relative) win.
I don’t talk about it much on here, but I’m an active swing/momentum trader so I keep track of the stock market and individual sectors on a daily basis. I exited out of a long position that acted as my anchor for a long time (I was 80% $SPLG at one point) in February when the S&P index dropped below its 100-day EMA (Exponential Moving Average). There have been a few relief rallies and fake-outs that I didn’t believe in, so I stayed out of US stocks; the past six or seven weeks have felt like a slow-mo version of the 2020 COVID crash to me. So I’ve mostly rotated into international large cap value/dividend plays, a US Bond market index, and, god help me, physical hold shares, because that’s how bleak it’s been looking out there.
Anyway, after some not so great ~news~ yesterday, the market shit the bed today. Looks like the Dow ended 3.98% in the red, SPY is down 4.93%, NASDAQ dropped 5.3%. Meanwhile I eked out a gain of 0.01%. Basically feeling like this guy right now:
A United Airlines flight headed to Shanghai had to turn around over the weekend after the pilot forgot to take a passport, the airline said.
The mishap happened Saturday afternoon on United Flight 198 from Los Angeles International Airport to Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Data on FlightAware.com showed the flight took off on time just before 2 p.m. but was diverted to San Francisco, where it landed just after 5 p.m. There were 257 passengers and 13 crew members onboard.
United said in a brief statement that the pilot did not have the passport, so the plane had to return to California, where a new crew would take passengers to China. The plane left Saturday evening about six hours behind schedule.
The airline said passengers were given meal vouchers and compensation for the inconvenience.

The unreasonably jacked gay guy who works at my local Barnes and Noble and I have a delicate dance we do. About once a month when I’m there he’ll come up and ask if I’m looking for anything in particular. I then rattle off about a dozen obscure titles that collectively maybe have about 1,000 ratings on Goodreads.
He never finds any of them because they’re all put out by small indie presses. On the rare occasion he can actually order one he’ll ask if I want him to and I’ll say, “No ❤️.”

A Bulgarian top-flight team has apologised for holding a minute’s silence for a former player, only to discover he is still alive.
Arda Kardzhali mourned Petko Ganchev before Sunday’s league game with Levski Sofia, with both teams lining up on the centre circle and bowing their heads in Ganchev’s honour.
However, before the game had ended, Arda posted on their Facebook page saying they had been misinformed.
“The management of PFC Arda would like to express a huge apology to the former Arda player Petko Ganchev and his relatives after the club received wrong information about his death,” the club wrote.
“We wish Petko Ganchev many more years of good health and to enjoy the success of Arda.”
What an exceptionally frustrating day. I genuinely feel physically drained from being in a heightened state of anger for several consecutive hours.
