hi!!! sorry i haven’t gotten to your other ask i’m ngl i forgot about it, so in the mean time i’ll answer this one! i love this idea :)) also i included a little scene of the reader and edd getting together, ik it’s not the ask but i couldn’t think of what else to fill this with 😭
Edd adores having another artist around. He always asks if you want to draw with him and asks for comic ideas. You bring notebooks and markers with you every time you visit him and the guys.
You two made a comic together that turned into a series, about two superhero’s (wink wink). You never get art block cause Edd is always full of ideas for you.
The guys love to play pictionary with you two, too. You’re good at drawing so they have a good chance of guessing, but then you get to laugh at the silly looking doodles they come up with. Good times all around.
Sometimes you’ll sneakily draw on Edd; little doodles of Ringo or random things like a slice of pizza. The first time he freaked out, but he kind of liked the drawing so he didn’t oblige when you did it again.
Any time you guys watch movies you both comment on the art style and animation, making it a fun but critical watch regardless of if it’s a Disney movie or someone’s passion project. It completely changed the way you watched movies when he started pointing out things you’d never noticed.
Edd tries to spend as much time with you as he can so you two can continue the comics and doodle on each other. Tom calls you gross and always says to get a room, making Edd defensive but you always just laugh. Tom also told you that Edd has a massive crush on you, which actually is what led to you two getting together.
You had assumed Tom was joking, but with that in mind you started noticing things. Like Edd staring at you for a while after you’d broken eye contact, the doodles he puts on your arms are hearts, he’s always leaning toward or on you, etc. So after a while, you decided to ask.
“Hey, Edd?” you say.
You and Edd were sat in his room, both on his bed with journals in front of you, coming up with ideas for the suit of the new villain in your comic series. He looked up at you, tilting his head slightly.
“Yeah?”
“Um,” you take a breath, “do you have..feelings for me?”
You’re immediately embarrassed of the question but silently await his response. Edd’s eyes widened and he quickly broke eye contact. He held his arm in his hand for a moment, thinking.
“Did Tom tell you that?” he asked.
That wasn’t really the response you wanted, and it sounded like he didn’t. Which oddly disappointment you.
“Yeah,” you said, now looking away too.
“Sorry, I should’ve gotten that he was joking, I won’t ask you stuff like that-” you chuckled awkwardly but Edd interrupted you.
“No, I- … I do.”
You paused, glancing back up at him. “You do?”
It took both of you a second to process what just happened, in that time you noticed how red Edd’s face had gotten, and how warm yours was.
He doesn’t say anything else so you think for a moment. You didn’t expect this, really. You didn’t know what you were expecting. The feeling in your chest was hard to describe, maybe butterflies? You kept thinking. Did you feel that way too?
“I knew I shouldn’t have said anything to Tom. I wasn’t going to tell you, I’m-”
“I think..” you interrupted. “I think I feel that way too.”
You two finally made eye contact again. You noticed the shimmer in his brown eyes.
“Really?”
You nod. The silence is so loud but you didn’t care. This was so different, everything felt so different.
“Um,” he says. “Can I kiss you?”
You feel your heart skip a beat. You’re not sure how to respond. You want to, because you like him. Edd is funny and sweet and so fun to be around. But this is so unexpected. You’d never thought about your feelings for him romantically. You two have just been buds that sometimes get called lovebirds or get mistaken for a couple. You realise you haven’t responded.
“Y/n?” he asks.
“Oh, uh,” you think for a moment. You nod.
Edd fights a smile and starts to lean in, stopping and started like he’s unsure of himself. But then you put your hand up to his face. He stops immediately.
“I’m sorry,” you say. “I don’t think I’m ready for that,”
Edd takes a moment but nods. “Okay,”
You smile. “So, are we together now?”
“Yeah,” he smiles back.
It only takes a few days before you two kiss, after you processed everything. Tom said he called it but Matt seems to have been oblivious. Now your drawing sessions have become you showing each other drawings of you two. It’s just as fun as before, and things don’t feel so different.
