Sejarah Gereja Katolik
Sejarah Gereja Katolik adalah mengenai pembentukan, peristiwa, dan transformasi Gereja Katolik melalui masa.
Menurut Tradisi Suci Kristian Katolik, titik pemfaktoran sejarah Gereja Katolik adalah mengenai ajaran Yesus Kristus (sekitar 4 SM hingga kira-kira 30 Masihi), dan Gereja Katolik adalah kesinambungan sidang Kristian Purba yang dibentuk oleh murid-murid (Para Rasul) Yesus.[1] Gereja menganggap para uskupnya sebagai pengganti kepada rasul-rasul Yesus dan pemimpin Gereja, Uskup Rom (juga dikenali sebagai Paus), sebagai pengganti tunggal kepada Santo Petrus [2] yang melayani di Rom pada abad pertama Masihi selepas pelantikannya oleh Yesus sebagai ketua Gereja (Paus).[3][4] Menjelang akhir abad ke-2, para uskup mula berkumpul di sinod serantau untuk menyelesaikan isu-isu doktrin dan dasar.[5] Duffy mendakwa bahawa menjelang abad ke-3, gereja di Rom mungkin berfungsi sebagai mahkamah rayuan mengenai isu-isu doktrin.[6]
