IT’S SHOWTIME!
Or it will be December 24, 2019 when “John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch” premiers on Netflix. Now that we did a remake of the opening of “All That Jazz” I think I am officially out of wishes and also…out of ideas, baby!
Be well Tumblr. You deserve it.

With the album for John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch in pre-order, let’s all give three cheers and four chords for @elibolin the composer of every song you will hear and the man who composed all the music for @docnowifc “Co-Op” Eli is that rare thing: a genius who is nice and fun and silly. He can take a voice memo of me singing about Flowers at Night and turn it into a synth pop hit. He is patient and worked overtime to rehearse with every youngster in the weeks before filming. (Sorry Eli, I cannot pay you for the overtime) Eli - as with a couple other people - is the reason Sack Lunch was made and is what it is. I had ideas. He had musical ingenuity and a work ethic like a donkey (donkeys work hard?) He made the music soar and I am so lucky to know him. His heroes are William Finn and Mencken & Ashman. And one day I gotta tell him that he is just as good as those guys. Eli Bolin! The great great great great grandson of Ann Bolin and Henry the VIII and our maestro! Love ya!
Hey Tumblr,
How you been? Still accusing me of being involved in Princess Diana’s death? Ha ha! You little rascals (All will be revealed on The Crown Season 5, but I will have gone underground by then.)
Here’s an exclusive photo of me and movie star Jake Gyllenhaal who you know from “Prisoners” and “John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch.” I am posting it here first because my phone wasn’t synced to the Tumblr app and so I wasn’t being a good and active member of the community the way I had hoped. I still have probably the best layout of any Tumblr page ever. Scroll through the “Archives” and remember all the good times we have had.
I wish you all the most glorious of Tuesdays,
John
PRE- ORDER THE ORIGINAL CAST ALBUM FOR HERE “John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch.” With Original Music Composed by Eli Bolin. Lyrics by John Mulaney and Marika Sawyer.
Who are John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch and what is this album? Well John Mulaney is a 6 ft tall comedian with many credits and two awards and he was born on a humid August night in 1982. The Sack Lunch Bunch is a group of children ages 8-13, born after the turn of the 21st century, and they are each unique human beings with way more talent than Mr. Mulaney. They’ve got some songs to sing and were joined by guests like David Byrne, Tony Award winner Andre De Shields, Annaleigh Ashford, Shereen Pimentel and Jake Gyllenhaal from the movie Zodiac! The sonic result is this soundtrack album!
We hope anyone who listens to this is either a kid who digs it, or if you’re a grown up and can vote and stuff, that these songs take you somewhere familiar in the garage of your mind, maybe back to that time when you were smaller, had no control over your schedule, lived in fear of tarantulas, but sometimes got to rock out to loud pianos and big bright horns.
The soundtrack for the extravaganza that is John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch launches globally on December 24, 2019 via Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, Tidal, Deezer and the rest of the quality digital streaming platforms - everywhere online that you can hear great Drag City records and tapes! While we have no plans to make it compatible with Pono, we are in early talks with Neil Young.

Just a nice photo of me with my favorite bone.
I want to, but I am not so sure this isn’t attached to string somewhere. This would be very embarrassing for me.

According to John Carpenter and Kurt Russell in the DVD Commentary, the story was originally written as a western but Carpenter decided to set it...
