They lay a great amount of eggs with up to 250 eggs a year, can also serve as a dual purpose bird which means you can also process them for meat and their color! Their color is so pretty! I have an Australorp rooster now that’s black with shades of green! Leghorns lay large white eggs. They have been our most reliable layers when we’ve had them! They’re a little more nervous and flighty but they also lay up to 280 eggs a year so that makes up for it. Rhode Island Reds are a great, easy to care for beginner bird. Laying up to 260 eggs per year they are one of the top producers.
