This week, and the beginning of the next, we're working on patriotic works of art, to celebrate Veterans Day! We are a big military town, and we want to support our local veterans and country! 4th & 5th worked on their shading in this American flag project, 1st and 2nd grade worked on their drawing skills, sketching out a bald eagle with me, and 3rd is drawing the Art Project for Kids, head of the statue of liberty surrounded by fireworks! We all know the poem “In Flanders Fields” written by John McRae in 1918 during the First World War. This project is a celebration of the symbolism of poppies and is a beautiful display for Remembrance Day.

We created our sweet patriot banner with letters on back to send off to our heroes who defend and protect our country each day. This writing and art project is a great way to teach students about the meaning behind Veterans Day, and that it's not just another day off of school.

Our Second Graders made these cute stars for their music program. Click HERE to get the printable for the Veterans from making learning fun. We used scrapbook paper to create the camo look. When the students finished, we tore pieces of paper to create red, white and blue textured letters.
