Western maryland

An EMD F7A and four other engines heading east on the P&LE viaduct in Connellsville, near mile 58Y which is the end of P&LE trackage and the beginning of Western Maryland trackage. Date unknown, but no later than mid 70's. The train extends back to another bridge in the background which was the N&W Railroad, meaning this possibly was train AJ-12. The photo would have been taken from CV tower above the train station. This viaduct was torn down in the 1990's and a shopping plaza is now here…

The Helmstetter's Curve was the WM's famous sweeping horseshore that was located just west of Cumberland. Today, it is still used by the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
