Jujutsu Kaisen

Idly indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, high schooler Yuuji Itadori spends his days at either the clubroom or the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the strange when he unknowingly encounters a cursed item. Triggering a chain of supernatural occurrences, Yuuji finds himself suddenly thrust into the world of Curses—dreadful beings formed from human malice and negativity—after swallowing the said item, revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the King of Curses.

Yuuji experiences first-hand the threat these Curses pose to society as he discovers his own newfound powers. Introduced to the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, he begins to walk down a path from which he cannot return—the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer.

Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became one of my all-time favorite anime, and I've rewatched it more than once because I liked it that much. From the very beginning, the story pulls you in with its unique mix of supernatural horror and heartfelt character moments. The premise where the main character Yuuji Itadori swallows a cursed object and gets thrown into a deadly world of Curses is exactly the kind of plot I love!

One of the strongest aspects of the show for me is the cast. The main characters are just so lovable goofy, sweet, but always driven by strong values and a genuine desire to ... do good. Watching them grow, struggle, and fight together never gets old. Yuuji is such a kind protagonist, and the people around him are just as interesting. I especially enjoyed characters like Inumaki and Maki - there’s something about them that stands out, both in terms of design and personality. And while I know everyone goes wild for Gojou Satoru, he’s actually not my favorite (sorry, Gojou fans!). I found myself drawn more to Nanami, especially in the later episodes! His calm, no-nonsense attitude was such a great contrast to the chaos around him!

Surprisingly, I also found myself liking a lot of the villains. It's weird, because they obviously do some horrible things, but they’re well-written [to my liking]. Some where kindaaaa annoying but I just didn't like the personality-

Visually, Jujutsu Kaisen is absolutely stunning. The animation is smooth, the action scenes are thrilling, and the art style is just pleasing to look at in every scene! I also really enjoyed the colors and shading!! They gave the vibee

Overall, Jujutsu Kaisen is a perfect mix of intense supernatural battles, likable characters, and surprisingly deep moments. If you’re into stories that balance emotion, humor, and dark fantasy elements, this is definitely one you shouldn’t miss!

Mixed Feelings

Jujutsu Kaisen is, without question, a series packed with style, flair, and unapologetic brutality. From its sharp animation to high-stakes battles, it knows how to keep your eyes wide and your heart racing. At its best, it offers flashes of brilliance, moments that make you lean in, wondering if this is where the emotional payoff finally lands. But as the episodes (and later chapters) roll on, a quiet pattern emerges. Characters are introduced with depth, only to be yanked offstage before they fully play their part. Moral questions are raised but left dangling, like half-finished thoughts scribbled in the margins. The narrative flirts with profound ... themes, only to detour into chaos before anything quite sticks. It’s the sort of show that makes you feel like you’re almost witnessing a masterpiece, if only it would sit still long enough to say something. Still, it’s hard to stay mad. There’s an energy here, a sense that the creator is throwing everything at the wall, not to see what sticks, but to blow the wall up altogether. And perhaps that’s where the frustration lies: in the constant tearing down of meaning just as it begins to form. In the end, watching Jujutsu Kaisen was a bit like reading poetry during a thunderstorm, beautiful, confusing, and a bit soaked. I searched for closure, while Gege seemed far more interested in courting chaos. “This reality is cruel… but that doesn’t mean your story has to be meaningless." A line I wish Jujutsu Kaisen had the courage to say. Perhaps then, in all its noise and beauty, it might’ve left something more than just echoes.

This anime honestly made me hate the shonen genre. First off, it’s completely uninspired. There’s basically no world-building — you can’t even talk about the story, because there’s nothing to say. Some random guy eats a finger, and suddenly he’s dragged into another world where he meets some demon called Sukuna. Nothing is explained, making it bland and uninteresting.

And of course, they throw in the typical nekketsu exam arc, but with random, unrelated characters no one cares about. So, you’re just left sitting there, watching the animation — nothing more, nothing less. There’s not a single piece of lore worth holding onto. If you’ve watched ... Parasyte beforehand, you’ll notice the similarities — but lacking both depth and emotional impact.

I honestly can’t remember ever having a real conversation about this show, unlike Naruto, which actually built hype and had substance.

Here, it’s all about Gojo. Gojo can control this, control that, he’s overpowered, he can transcend earth, turn water into whine, summon electricity — yeah, great, so what? Is he going to pay your rent?

The only saving grace is the characters. They’re surprisingly likable and feel realistic. But aside from that, this show is as deep as a puddle of demon piss.
