A sequel anime for Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!) was announced following the screening of the Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 3: Bonus Stage (KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 OVA) on Friday.

The two-episode Bonus Stage original video anime began a two-week limited screening in Japan on Friday (pictured right). Kadokawa will release the OVA on home video on April 25.

The first two anime seasons produced by Studio Deen aired in Winter 2016 and 2017, each running for ten episodes. The ninth and 12th light novel volumes each bundled an original video anime episode in June 2016 and July 2017.

The Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!: Kurenai Densetsu (Konosuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! - Legend of Crimson) anime movie by J.C.Staff premiered in Japan in August 2019, adapting the fifth volume.

The third and latest season, produced by animation studio Drive, aired in 11 episodes in Spring 2024. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with multiple subtitles and dubs.

The anime series, also known by its short title Konosuba, adapts Natsume Akatsuki's comedy fantasy light novel, which he originally penned on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from December 2012 to October 2013. Kadokawa began printing the title under its Sneaker Bunko label that month, featuring illustrations by Kurone Mishima (Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records). The light novel ended with the 17th volume in May 2020. Konosuba has a cumulative 10 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Masahito Watari began drawing a manga adaptation in Monthly Dragon Age in September 2014. Kadokawa published the 20th volume in December 2024.

@EcchiGodMamster I'm 100% sure anyone who says it was leaked is full of bs...people literally thought that the announcement for Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 3: Bonus Stage was the announcement for the next season...because that was announced 3 months ago and than again this:

『この素晴らしい世界に祝福を!3ーBONUS STAGEー』本予告【2025年3月14日(金)より2週間限定上映】

Translation would be:

"KONOSUBA: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! 3 -BONUS STAGE-" Official Trailer [2-week limited screening from Friday, March 14, 2025]

so the next season was literally announced on the day when the 3rd OVA dropped...people make stuff up just to sound like they knew something that wasn't even announced or leaked before the day it was announced hahahahahaha

@Marcus5768 saying "now the LN has ended" would imply that the LN ended recently and that your english skils or that of a 6 year old...

The LN finished in 2020. and if 5 years is "recently" then I don't understand the concept of time...you don't even know how much of the LN was adapted in the anime, and a lot of Light Novels have ended, and their anime never got adopted until the end...and when I say a lot I mean more than 90% of them...

I would be happy if Konosuba gets a full adaptation but even if it does, it will take another 5-10 years to get until the ending for sure...this new season doesn't even have a date yet (it's still in production, that means we will be lucky if we get it in 2026...and why do a lot of people like you who don't know shit about anime in general comment about something related to the release dates or how much of the anime will be adapted? Do you even have any qlue how the anime industry functions in Japan? I'm sure you don't...and dude learn proper English first... English is my 3rd language and when I see someone write "now the LN has ended" and not "now that the LN has ended" I can imagine how profound your linguistic skills are...but then I saw what country you're from and how much anime "you watched" and everything was clear as day HAHAHAHAHA and no I'm not making fun of you I'm just stating the truth unfortunately...)

@MadanielFL I love Konosuba, but you can't be real with your expression: "this is one of those shows you know they will keep giving new seasons" because it's literally not hahahaha

Konosuba is beloved all over the world, but that doesn't mean anything...the first two seasons aired in 2016-2017 and after that came the movie in 2019. and then after that Megumin side story(also a LN) and finally after that the 3rd season in 2024. so what made you think it was a given that Konosuba will get the anime until the end? the 8 year gap? or the 5 year gap between the movie and the 3rd season?

I got my hopes up recently after we got the 3rd season and after this announcement but it still isn't 100% that they will animate all the Light Novels until the end(I sure hope they do because it's one of my favorite anime ever and I read the LN until the end...Konosuba's LN finished in 2020.)

I hate when people comment nonsense (mostly kids that don't know anything about the anime industry in general but love to write nonsense...)

It's not like Mushoku Tensei who literally got a studio opened just to create the whole series and animate it...or Boku no Hero...or One Piece...or Bleach...I mean Light Novels don't get anime endings in 99% of the cases...so I don't know where you got so optimistic, but you probably started watching anime during COVID so yeah....and now I actually saw that you wrote that you started watching anime in 2020. so yeah dude you are new... get used to being disappointed that not all the great anime get another season or an ending (the best example I can give you that the biggest trash ever of a manga/anime got 4 seasons in a row...Kanojo, Okarishimasu or Rent a Girlfriend...that got 4 seasons in 5 years and I can write at least 20-30 anime that would have been more deserving in the last 5 years to get even a 2nd season...)

Overlord was also popular in JAPAN and all over the world, and they still had to waste years of not making another season....it depends on the studio who has the rights, how much merch they sell and so many factors...so this is literally a blessing that we got at least an announcement(because the official date of the new season is still unknown...it could come out in 2026 if everything goes well but who knows...probably 2027 hahaha)

So, Konosuba refuses to die? Great, I didn't even notice how this anime became incredibly nostalgic and warm for me.

Yes! Very happy about this, as someone who has rewatched the first 2 seasons of KonoSuba multiple times. Hoping this gets a complete adaptation some day, and at this rate, it seems very likely that it'll happen.

Good, good stuff. Back to all of Isekai Quartet shows having sequels lined up or currently airing!

Oh nice, I thought this had been announced already...

I mean, this is one of those shows you know they will keep giving new seasons until they adapt the whole story.
