Lupin the 3rd is a Japanese media franchise created by Monkey Punch. The series follows the endeavors of master thief Lupin III, grandson of gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, joined by his criminal gang.

This is a complete Anime Guide for all the animation produced for Lupin the 3rd. As of January 2023, the series currently consists of 315 Episodes (through 6 Parts and 1 spin-off series), 7 OVAs, 2 ONAs, 27 TV Specials, 6 Movies.
Lupin III: Pilot Film (1978)

(TV Version): Created in 1969. It is the first animated adaptation of the Lupin III manga series, created by Monkey Punch in 1967. The 12-minute film was created by Tokyo Movie and intended to generate interest and secure funding for a larger production.

(CinemaScope Version): A remastered version of the Pilot film, realised in 1978, re-photographed in cinemascope and re-dubbed for being screened in cinema before of 1st movie [Mamoo's 1st copy]. In 1989, it was included on the Lupin III - Secret File OVA.

Initially under the direction of Masaaki Ōsumi, the series remained faithful to dark tone of the manga. Ōsumi was replaced by directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, who took the show in a markedly more light-hearted and family-friendly direction that would become the blueprint for later Lupin III series.
Lupin III: Part II

After Lupin the Third Part I became popular during reruns, a new series was created. In contrast to the dark tone and violence of the more serious first series, this series made use of a lighter tone and more exaggerated animation to create a crime caper. Pop culture references appear frequently. Two movies were released during the original broadcast: The Mystery of Mamo and The Castle of Cagliostro.

The Mystery of Mamo was produced while the second Lupin III television series was being broadcast, and was created with the intention of making a film that was aesthetically and thematically faithful to Monkey Punch's original manga.

Lupin III: Cagliostro no Shiro

The film was Miyazaki's feature directorial debut after having previously worked as an animator for Toei Animation and Telecom Animation Film, and directing several animated television series, including Lupin III Part I. It become the most popular and well-regarded entry in the entire Lupin III franchise mostly because of its ties with Hayao Miyazaki as Cagliostro in his directorial debut.

Lupin III: Part III

The initial character designs of the Pink Jacket Series were much more grounded and gritty. Towards the later half of the series, the production team decided to headed towards a more cartoonish nature more closer to Western animation. During the series run, The Legend of the Gold of Babylon was produced at the same time with the same staff.

Lupin III: Fuuma Ichizoku no Inbou

Due to budget concerns, TMS decided not to employ the regular voice cast for the OVA, instead going for a slightly less-expensive yet still well-known Aoni Production cast. The regulars were reinstated with the first television special, Bye-Bye Liberty - Close Call!.

This series acts as a soft reboot of the franchise. The previous parts 1-3 were in an episodic format, but in this series, each episode of this story foreshadows the connection to the next story, and a narrative structure is built throughout the series. While still having stand-alone episodes here and there, it generally follows an overarching story.
