So, we have an anthropomorphic animal who acts just like a human. Stands on hind legs, talks, interacts with humans just like he's one of them, they treat him just like a human... it seems the only difference between him and a human is that he has fur and a tail. But then, when the audience has forgotten what he is... he does something that's actually animal-like! If he's a dog, he might suddenly stop what he's doing to chase a car, if he's a cat, he might happily give someone a dead mouse.
Aggressive Retsuko
TV, 2016, 100 eps Me:- Author:-
• Washimi, a secretarybird, demonstrates her dominance by stomping on things with her powerful feet, just as real secretarybirds do. Also like a bird her facial structure means she can't smile, so Retsuko and Gori have to look for other points of body language to tell if she's happy or not.

• Fenneko also can extend her claws out of her fingertips.
Doraemon Movie 19: Nobita no Nankai Daibouken
Movie, 1998, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
When Doraemon angrily chases after Quiz for calling him a tanuki, he briefly moves like a cat trying to catch a bird.
Juuni Senshi Bakuretsu Eto Ranger
TV, 1995, 39 eps Me:- Author:-
The team being all animals (albeit spirits representing ones), some traits, instincts, and even stereotypes, tend to show up now and then.

• Bakumaru loves cheese and hates/fears cats.

• Cream's rabbit ears are sensitive. She can pick up sounds from afar, but hurt from loud noises.

• Monk, being a monkey, has a desire to climb things, expressing his want to join the team in the Jack & the Beanstalk world, though disappointed not getting the chance.

• In the Image Song album, Tart's song has a line where she throws an egg at a bad date.

• She is also the first Pochirro and Monk turn to when settling the argument of whether the chicken or egg existing first, because she is a chicken spirit herself. She doesn't know.

• Hols turns into a feral raging bull whenever he sees red objects, though it's not true in Real Life.

• Pakaracchi has powerful kicks like a real horse, enough to crack a Jyarei Monster made of crystal.

• In order to entertain a baby that he's been left with, Gaoh transforms into his Tiger Form and starts doing circus tricks for it.

• Pochiro is a dog and acts as such sometimes, including wagging his tail in excitement, even when he claims he's not.

• Nyorori is a snake and is seen swallowing an orange whole, slowly.
Bonobono (TV)
TV, 1995, 48 eps Me:- Author:-
Bonobono Don't Drop His Seashell like Real-Life Otters Do
Toutotsu ni Egypt Shin
ONA, 2020, 10 eps Me:- Author:-
• The entirety of Season 1 Episode 2 is dedicated to reminding the audience that, yes, the cat goddess Bastet behaves like a cat (i.e. she appears in the most random of places, gets bored so easily, and at one point she sleeps on and walks all over Thoth's laptop keyboard).

• Bastet is also the best at jumping off a swing and sticking the landing out of all the gods who tried it, because cats always land on their feet.
Kyattou Ninden Teyandee
TV, 1990, 54 eps Me:- Author:-
Several examples, such as the heroes succumbing to balls of yarn and canned cat food, Bad Bird being attracted to a shiny hairpin, the Rude Noise being scared of eyeball balloons, and Big Al marking telephone poles.
Meitantei Holmes
TV, 1984, 26 eps Me:- Author:-
Some characters tend to have distinct canine growls whenever they get upset or angry (Lestrade and Watson are frequent examples), and can use their teeth to get out of certain situations (such as in one episode where Hound and Watson were bound in ropes).
Hanyou no Yashahime: Sengoku Otogizoushi
TV, 2020, 24 eps Me:- Author:-
The flashback from Episode 2 shows a young Towa and Setsuna getting down on all fours to drink water from a river, similar to dogs drinking from a water bowl.
Zoids Wild
TV, 2018, 50 eps Me:- Author:-
Played with. Rather than reminding you that Zoids are animals, the show reminds you that they're machines. The first several episodes treat them basically as just large animals with some quirks, but after Arashi and Liger meet Battalia, she chides Arashi about mechanical maintenance and tightens up some loose parts on Liger. The oil he leaked while she fixed a line lead the episode's antagonists to their location. Analog later mentions how scientists hypothesize that Wild Blast imbues Zoids with the power of the animals they're based on, but that it sometimes doesn't hold up. This is a subtle reminder that despite apparently reproducing on their own and acting like living things, they were originally designed and built by humans.
Dungeon Meshi
TV, 2024, 24 eps Me:- Author:-
• Kuro Aside from having a very canine-like personality, one of the character sketches shows he swims by doggy paddling.

• Izutsumi She is part cat. She licks herself to groom, and she can sense ghosts (referencing the supernatural beliefs surrounding cats). In an omake she coughs up a hairball. When she's preparing the succubus milk, she can't tell which powder is sugar and looks disappointed after trying what she's made: cats can't taste sweet. The anime gives her an additional mannerism of clacking her teeth together while eating.
Monster Musume no Oishasan
TV, 2020, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
Cthuly Sequele When stressed, she tends to bite her tentacles, similar to octopuses eating themselves when stressed
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
TV, 2009, 64 eps Me:- Author:-
The chimeras sometimes exhibit traits of the animals they've been fused with. Some inherit handy things like enhanced senses of smell, increased strength, the ability to climb vertical surfaces or an "animal instinct" which tells them when they should fight and when they should run away, some do things only vaguely related to the animal they're fused with like adhesive saliva projectiles (toad) and shooting spines (wild boar, which are sometimes called razorbacks) but others just do funny things like pee standing on one leg, something Martel teases Dorchetto about. In Brotherhood, Dorchetto embarassedly/angrily states that he only did that once.
Yakitori
ONA, 2023, 6 eps Me:- Author:-
Occasionally the Federation aliens will remind us they're still animals, like one of the cat diplomats licking his paw or Gimel shaking his head like a dog. Likewise the Barkans storm the base the 321 is occupying through the sewers.
Beastars
TV, 2019, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
Along with the usual talk about carnivores and herbivores, there's also a number of animal-related activities for each species to partake in. Alongside Bio-Week at the school (where students get to spend time in their natural habitat such as lizards in a humid environment, polar bears in a very cold room, and wolves looking at a fake moon), canines are able to go to a facility that has a ball-tossing machine and are also pre-disposed to chasing balls and ball-like objects.
Ishuzoku Reviewers
TV, 2020, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
• Winged-folk have traits similar to ordinary birds:
Females have a single cavity on their hindquarters called a cloaca that serves all functions. The Marionette Crisis volume of the light novel reveals males generally also have a cloaca and thus lack a penis, the exceptions being species based on water-dwelling or flightless birds.
They bathe in water and sand like actual birds.

• They lay eggs to reproduce. Combining this with their humanoid reproductive traits results in their "periods" taking the form of needing to lay their unfertilized eggs.

• ZigZagged with regard to "nesting". While they do so in order warm fertilized eggs, it's not an instinctual trait and they have to practice it so they don't break their eggs by accident. They can also nest with their unfertilized eggs to delay the next cycle of egg-laying, a trick that human women are doubtlessly jealous of.
Dekiru Neko wa Kyou mo Yuuutsu
TV, 2023, 13 eps Me:- Author:-
Yukichi the cat straddles the line between this trope and Intellectual Animal; he's practically a human being in most of his behavior and even walks on two legs, but cannot talk and has a few cat-like hang-ups. He has a few internal monologues where he describes his occasional dissatisfactions with life, cynicism about humans and Saku in particular.
