Anime Which the tag Ecchi Is Removed or are Comonlly Mistaken for Ecchi Series.
Aishen Qiaokeli-ing...
ONA, 2015, 15 eps Me:- Author:-
there is indeed a little fan-service, but it's absolutely not the main focus of the series.
Body Jack: Tanoshii Yutai Ridatsu
OVA, 1987, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
Body Jack Tanoshii Yutai Ridatsu is centered around body swapping and transformations that lead to sexual encounters and erotic activities persuasively throughout the series serving as a central theme that tends to delve into explicit content even though genitals are not shown, it still delves into a much greater emphasis on actual explicit-ness of exploration than a dedicated ecchi anime does. Additionally, as mentioned earlier, Body Jack Tanoshii Yutai Ridatsu revolves around a specific device that creates sexual advance to transform into females making the addition of the magical sex shift theme accurately represents a main theme of the anime. In summary, the presence of these aspects being part of the overall representation, and that Body Jack Tanoshii Yutai Ridatsu is categorized as such on the majority of anime platforms further implies the justification for this addition and supporting that it is generally considered a body swapping disservice comedy rather than a ecchi one.
Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism
TV, 2017, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
The series does not deserve the ecchi tag because the fanservice is minimal and not the main focus of the story. The series is mainly an action and comedy story, with elements of school life, harem, and martial arts. The series deals with the challenge of Nomura Fudou, a transfer student who has to defeat the five sword-wielding girls who rule over the school. The series has some fanservice scenes, but they are mostly used to show the personality or humor of some characters, or to contrast the tone of the story. The fanservice scenes do not involve nudity or sexual situations, and they are less frequent and less explicit than other ecchi series. Compared to other series that have more fanservice or are tagged as ecchi, such as High School DxD, Testament of Sister Devil, “Ikki Tousen”, “Prison School”, “Sekirei”, or To Love-Ru, the fanservice in Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism is significantly and absolutely much much less frequent. You can also watch the first episode on YouTube and while there may be a few suggestive scenes or awkward situations they are quite rare but here’s the link: , The series deserves the martial arts tag because it has many martial arts elements and themes. It’s important to note that the source material: https://myanimelist.net/manga/81707/Busou_Shoujo_Machiavellianism has the “Martial Arts” tag but not the “Ecchi” tag. The series is mainly an action and comedy story, with elements of school life, romance, and martial arts. The series deals with the challenge of Nomura Fudou, a transfer student who has to defeat the five sword-wielding girls who rule over the school. The series shows the martial arts skills and abilities that the characters have, such as western fencing, Japanese swordsmanship, Chinese martial arts, etc. The series also explores the history and philosophy of some martial arts styles, such as Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryū or Wing Chun. The series is similar to other series that have the martial arts tag, such as Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys, Tenjho Tenge, Medaka Box, Ranma 1/2, or History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. Therefore, I think the martial arts tag should be added.
Cybervenus FeiFei
OVA, 2001, 6 eps Me:- Author:-
Any "suggestiveness" is extremely mild and I wouldn't describe the anime as sexual in any manner.
Dream Hunter Rem
OVA, 1985, 4 eps Me:- Author:-
Same as above, but unlike other entries in this series it has little to no ecchi content. The closest it gets is a scene in which the monster of the episode rips off some lady's clothes and breasts are exposed for a few seconds, but that's just typical monster on a rampage stuff, that doesn't really count as ecchi.
Futari Ecchi
OVA, 2002, 4 eps Me:- Author:-
the show is about newly wed couple, first episode and they already have sex, which is beyond ecchi, plus the anime can also be catered to girls which also can be erotica.
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk
TV, 2015, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
The ecchi content is in line with “World Break” and “Unlimited Fafnir” which are not brought as ecchi anime on this station. Fanservice scenes are fairly soft and minor rather than overbearingly sexual or dominant. They are also even done at a low degree by comparison to other shows and minimize as the plot holds up till the second season to the point where it disappears.
Hatena☆Illusion
TV, 2020, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
Not sure about the source material, but this is not a ecchi anime. It is not even any where close to "ecchi" being at least 70-80% of the series to have this genre. Fanservice is rare and it was like 10% or less. You can watch any anime eps, check mal reviews, google, net videos, etc.
Kiddy Grade
TV, 2002, 24 eps Me:- Author:-
"Kiddy Grade" is an anime series that warrants the addition of the "Space" genre tag and the removal of the "Ecchi" tag. The series is primarily set in a galactic and outer space backdrop, and while it contains some occasional fanservice moments, they are relatively mild and do not define the central focus of the show. Notably, respected sources and streaming services do not classify it as an ecchi anime, further supporting the need for tag adjustment. The series takes place in a futuristic universe where interstellar travel and advanced technology are integral components of the narrative. The protagonists, Éclair and Lumière, are part of the Galactic Organization of Trade and Tariffs (GOTT) and engage in various missions and adventures across the galaxy. The space setting is not merely a backdrop but is intrinsic to the storyline, as characters navigate intergalactic politics, mysteries, and threats. Regarding the ecchi content, while there are occasional fanservice moments in "Kiddy Grade," they are relatively mild and incidental rather than being a central feature of the show. The anime's focus lies in its intricate plot, action sequences, and exploration of the galactic universe. The moments of fanservice are not excessive and do not overshadow the broader themes and narrative elements. Additionally, respected and reliable sources such as Anime Planet and streaming platforms do not classify "Kiddy Grade" as an ecchi anime. This classification aligns with the observations made above, suggesting that the fanservice in the series is not prominent or explicit enough to warrant the ecchi tag. I have also found a forum: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=275974 where other people were surprised that this was tagged ecchi and several of people complained about the ecchi tag and I agree with them. In conclusion, "Kiddy Grade" is deserving of the "Space" genre tag due to its primary setting and narrative focus on the galactic universe. The removal of the "Ecchi" tag is warranted by the relatively mild and infrequent nature of the fanservice, as well as the absence of this classification on reputable sources. This tag adjustment better reflects the anime's core themes and content.
Koe de Oshigoto! The Animation
OVA, 2010, 2 eps Me:- Author:-
Furthermore, the anime contains extended and explicit sexual content that go’s beyond typical ecchi nature and plus as noted above it revolves playing video games that are considered eroge. Lastly, the characters are high school characters and they have their daily lives at school.

TV, 2010, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
For Ecchi change to erotica, in my opinion this show is literally sold KINK (Masochist) as the series main selling point and other kinks too for smaller degree on mostly side characters, also its very consistent each episodes.
Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete
TV, 2024, 13 eps Me:- Author:-
This is a "fetish of the week" yuri BDSM show. No explicit sex (...yet), but the first episode alone features tentacle groping, spanking, and tickling, all in fairly graphic detail ; judging by the source manga, this is only going to escalate.
The protagonist is a dominatrix molesting magical girls ; judging by the manga and known episode count, we should eventually reach the point where consensual same-sex couples also form.
Majo demo Steady
OVA, 1986, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
There are a few sex scenes between the main characters in this 40 min ova, no genitals shown but still, this goes beyond what a normal ecchi would do.
Masou Gakuen HxH
TV, 2016, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
If Valkyrie Drive Mermaid is an erotica, I don't see any problem with Masou Gakuen HxH become one also. In episode 4, the MC, Kizuna touches Aine's genital area intentionally. In episode 6, kizuna intentionally performs a cunninglus on Himekawa, uses butt plug and played with it while the Himekawa "climax". In episode 9, it starts of with Kizuna shows the "stats" of the 3 main girls to the boys in the class, the "stats" is basically showing the girl's sensitive spot and the girls are basically nude in the picture on the status then later in the episode, Kizuna undresses Aine, went inside her panties and remove it, Aine is basically nude, then they use the shadow as the convenient censoring for Aine's genital area. In the last episode, Kizuna fingered Aine in public, using the panties as the convenient censoring. All of those were shown in the anime, not just implied or cut from the frame, all of which are way past Ecchi. I'd say this is more border hentai than Valkyrie Drive.
Masou Gakuen HxH Specials
Special, 2016, 6 eps Me:- Author:-
Main reason was about the Valkyrie Drive which I said above, also in episode 1, Kizuna targeted Aine's genital area, using the scroll to rub it against Aine's private part. In episode 2, Kizuna's fingers went inside Yurishia's bloomers and fingered her while they are airing in a show. In episode 3, Himekawa played with the butt plug tail again, inserts them slowly in her private part. In episode 4, Kizuna and her sister nearly had sex. In episode 5, it shows how Kizuna "installing a core" on Slyvia, which is basically inserting an egg vibrator like thing on Slyvia's genital. Nothing really extreme happened in episode 6.
Because most of the episodes are way out of Ecchi, I believe that this should be an Erotica.
Negima!?
TV, 2006, 26 eps Me:- Author:-
There's no noticeable sexual content for this series to be considered ecchi. Fanservice, erotic content and nudity is minimal enough to not be considered as such. This would only apply for the 2006 adaptation.
New Game! Watashi, Shain Ryokou tte Hajimete nanode...
OVA, 2017, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
There isn't any ecchi in it, just because this episode has girls at points in the episode in a hot spring (With the majority of the episode being at a ski resort) does not make it ecchi. That's like someone just slapping an ecchi label on an anime just because there was a girl in a towel or in their bath tub or another example a poster with a naked girl when the episode and or series is other genre/themes and not ecchi.
Nozoki Ana
OVA, 2013, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
In the linked anime, there are many sex scenes where you can't see any intimate body parts. That's no longer ecchi, but erotica.
Renai Boukun
TV, 2017, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
It seems like it would be quite fine to remove the ecchi tag from this anime because while there is fanservice such as suggestive moments and interactions, they are not explicit and are relatively mild, furthermore it’s worth noting that a considerable amount of reliable sources such as AniDB and Anime Planet do not tag it as a ecchi anime and it’s primarily more of a romance series.
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru
TV, 2022, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
just a few hot scenes but not really that bad. The sexyness is inherent to cosplaying.
Soul Eater NOT!
TV, 2014, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
The series does not deserve the ecchi tag because the fanservice is minimal and not the main focus of the story. The series is a spin-off of Soul Eater, which is not an ecchi anime, and it shares the same dark fantasy and comedy elements. The fanservice scenes are mostly comedic and do not involve nudity or sexual situations. Compared to other series that have more fanservice, such as Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, which does not have the ecchi tag, the fanservice in Soul Eater Not! is less frequent and less explicit. Therefore, I think the ecchi tag should be removed. The series deserves the school tag because the majority of the story takes place in a school setting, where the characters learn to control their powers and interact with other students and teachers. The series shows various aspects of school life, such as the entrance exam, the dormitory life, the festival, the exams, etc. The school setting is also important for the plot and the character development, as it introduces new challenges and conflicts for the main characters. Therefore, I think the school tag should be added.
Yaoguai Mingdan
ONA, 2014, 18 eps Me:- Author:-
this anime is not about showing erotic stuff.
Yosuga no Sora
TV, 2010, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
Well the series shows some sex scenes without exposing the genital area, same as the other erotica anime, so I think It's way past the Ecchi.
Asa made Jugyou Chu!
OVA, 2012, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
These two anime contain sheer depictions of sexual acts with passionate bondage (eg. the former relies on incest and the latter is a LGBTQ+ weight story) and lustful sex. They are also certainly in the same vein as “Aki-Sora” which is another anime that falls under the erotica genre. The romance tag is incompatible to soft-core porn, so, it clearly feels mandatory for both series to be put within the smut category rather than simply romance or plain ecchi at all.
