Being an evil doppelganger has to be so fucked up like imagine meeting a better version of yourself. Some chain of events going differently that led to "you" being a better person in a way you can never achieve. Personally I'd have no other option but to try and kill them

tlirsgender

It's always "oh no my evil clone or twin or whatever is trying to kill me" and never How is my evil clone? Says a lot about society

tlirsgender

Me, crashing the fuck out: you think you're better than me? You think you're fucking better than me???

My good clone, dodging a glass: I mean like objectively yeah

i've been on this site for 10 fucking years and the fact that black people and trans women are systematically chased out and have been chased out one by one from this website is really fucking gross. I hate this website. Racist fucking website.

wis-art

there used to be so many more black bloggers here prior to the "nsfw" ban, this is not a space marginalized people can use to talk about their issues, terfiest place on the internet tbh.

folly-of-alexandria

Even before that. I remember that for about 3 years there was an annual black out. Then when the purge of "Russian Bots" happened damn near 2/3 of all the popular black bloggers I knew disappeared from the site. And people were profoundly disinterested in questioning the validity of Tumblr's claim that the accounts were Russian agents. Didn't matter that I knew some of them IRL it fit their world view and that was that. Hardly ever see significant black blogs on here anymore.

[ID: a digital sketch of Toph and Katara. Toph is frowning and her arms are crossed. She is facing the viewer, and the light is coming from behind her. To the right of her is Katara. Her hair is half up half down, and her arms are also crossed. She has a skeptical look on her face and seems to be in the middle of a sentence. The light is behind her as well./ End ID]

actually it is crazy to me that you can complain about any misogynistic phenomenon under the sun on this website and inevitably you're going to get people crawling out of the woodwork to go "so true op! that's why I focus solely on men!" like ok. i don't think the solution to misogyny is to only pay attention to men actually. let's run some critical thought on that one beloveds

"lolcow" is ultimately a colloquial term describing a phenomena that actually precedes the internet (and well, most of history too) but I can't think of another shorthand with implications that are tacitly understood the same way when gesturing to the spectacle that the world makes around acceptable targets. you go on reddit and someone has crossposted a Courtroom Freakout video like that's some shit anyone should want to derive entertainment from. your mom's cohort watches Dumb Criminal Fail youtube compilations and nod their heads as the perpetrator of a failed robbery bleeds out on floor of a kfc like that's some shit anyone should want to see. your peers are heavily invested in the Worthless E-Drama Industrial Complex, where thousands of people are made collateral of all kinds of violence in the name of forwarding the narrative of the spectacle. and you can't ask any of these people why any of this behavior is normal to them unless you want to be accused of condoning immoral tendencies, compulsion to punish The Other already metastasized in their minds. it sucks how easy it is to kill your own interest in this shit but not anyone else's.

I really believe there's some sort of "emperor's new clothes" phenomenon happening with Gen Z discoursers where they're too afraid to question the logic of some of the discourse being thrown at them for fear of appearing to be unwoke so they just blindly parrot it not to be excluded by their peers

jethroq

not just a Gen Z thing, like that’s a valid criticism of tumblr few years back, and I’m not ashamed to admit it sucked me in too. people can say whatever shit they want as long as they use the right vocabulary and an agressive tone that just implies that disagreement is out of the question. it sinks in because you will get similar messages about legitimate issues and sometimes from the same people.

it’s interesting how many people say the term “nonbinary” as short for an identity with the assumption that this is separate and contradictory with a transfem identity, ppl so used to and centered around transmascs that they forget there’s other nonbinary people. like once you realize how many people implicitly see nonbinary gender as transmasculine by default it’s impossible to stop noticing it
