today i posted some of my favourite SUPERPOSE pages of 2017 (original tweet) and as i put them together i started feeling retrospective. i graduated from college two years ago. towards the end, and now that i’m out, i’ve solidified what will always be mixed feelings about the experience, but: during that time it became necessary for me to actualise what had always been present, but never nurtured.

i’ve always had personal stories, things kept for myself, some seeking more public forms. during art school a lot of things in my life were coming to a head (for better or worse) and i needed my work, and i needed breaks from my work, and i needed my work to take new form– if just to act as a conversation. because the work is, even if literal in subject matter, a metaphor/supplement to dialogue. with myself, friends, the world– it’s a vat/vehicle for process, and, i’m realising more consciously, for recovery. 

i don’t believe all my worth is or should be found in my work– but it has absolutely become a home, to stretch out in, to be bare and welcome in.
