I started off by removing all of the chunky details, this really helped me get a more modernized look. After all of my prep moving forward, I used my @harttoolsusa orbital sander to sand down the tops and HART’s precision rotary tool to sand the finer details in between. I ended up doing a faux wood finish on the tops since they were a cheap, mismatched veneer. I primed the bases, painted them in @fusionmineralpaint color “Oakham” and sealed them in a satin finish.

1. Paint wash
Mix 1/4 cup of paint with 3/4 cup of water, then apply the mixture to bare bare and immediately wipe it off with a lint-free cloth. You can do as many coats to build up coverage.

2. Bleach
After sanding your piece to bare wood, pour household bleach directly onto the wood, saturating it, and let it dry in the sun. Repeat as needed, rinse with water,let it dry then sand with 220 grit to remove roughness.

3. Painted faux wood(Yes, this works on fake wood)
To create a faux wood effect, prime the piece and paint it with your favorite beige paints.
