A century-old church, inelegantly converted into a dwelling decades ago has been revived by Tuckey Design Studio—a master lesson in creative reuse.

La Chapelle de L'ange au Violon is a beautifully, crumbling chapel located in the south of France. This dilapidated family chapel lies within the grounds of a house; the house itself is inhabited. Both the house and surrounding grounds are well-kept, immaculate in fact.

On that New Year’s Day — the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God — they envisioned family evening prayer and Sunday rosaries in its sun-drenched space. What they couldn’t have foreseen was the role it would play in the midst of a pandemic that would make their own parish temporarily inaccessible, and how that would help bring them closer to each other and their heavenly Father.
