Emma Olson (Jackson Semester 2) 2023-2024 8”8” Acrylic on Canvas Process: For this painting, my inspiration was the deadly sin, envy. Using acrylic paint on canvas, I painted two women with contrasting colors. The first woman is red, only using red and white to paint her to express that she seems to have no flaws or dark sides of her. The second woman is green, but I used green, white, and black to paint her to express that she has her ups and downs. She isn't necessarily "perfect" or "flawless" so she envies the reed woman, who she wants to be. The way she stares at the woman can be easily translated to jealousy or "green with envy". Hence, her being green. Red is green's opposite in the color wheel, so that's why I chose the goddess-like woman to be red. But can someone truly be perfect?
