This was probably the secret bar in Tokyo that was the hardest for me to locate so far at it Is actually not even on the street level and only marked by a small sign lying on a side street

The small jazz bar is home to live jazz music events that are popular with the locals, I was literally the only one who wasn’t Japanese there but the bartender and waiter were very welcoming

When there isn’t a band playing the venue is a jazz kissa (listening bar) playing from a carefully curated selection of jazz records

Japanese-style Listening Bars are a new way to experience music. The concept of listening bars, like many things, has its origins in Japanese culture. Commonly referred to as HiFi bars in the U.S., listening bars are a “subset of the kissaten, the small and idiosyncratic coffeehouses dotting the side streets in Tokyo (Ben Ratliff, New York Times),” and stem back to the 1950s.
