Lorenzo ghiberti

According to a reading from a newly digitized fragment of the Dead Sea Scrolls, Noah's Ark was something different than what is currently believed.

The Baptistery is renowned for its three sets of artistically important bronze doors with relief sculptures. The south doors were done by Andrea Pisano and the north and east doors by Lorenzo Ghiberti. The east pair of doors was dubbed by Michelangelo "the Gates of Paradise".

Donatello, "Saint Mark", 1411-1413, H:236.2cm, Marble, Or San Michele, Florence, Italy. Commissioned by the guild of linen drapers. Donatello reintroduced the use of contrapposto to the early Renaissance. The display of weight shift and movement of the body is shown through the sculpture's slightly bent knees and relaxed posture. By sculpting the clothes with a wet drapery effect not only makes the cloth look like its hanging naturally but enhances the movement created with the body.

Part I. Lorenzo Ghiberti (1378 - 1455) In 1401-02, Ghiberti won the competition to create the richly decorated bronze doors for the Baptistry in Florence. Each of the competing artists had to submit a trial relief, in a Gothic quatrefoil frame, representing the Sacrifice of Isaac. It took him more then two decades to complete these doors, located in the north portal of the building.
