Pepper plants can tolerate temperatures above freezing, but a temperature of 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) or below will result in frost, which will kill your pepper plants. Any temperature below 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) will slow down the growth of mature pepper plants, and it will also stunt the growth of seedlings. Peppers grown from seed should not be exposed to soil colder than 60 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius), or else they may fail to germinate.
