Let me start (pun intended) by saying, my sourdough starter hasn’t always been active, thick and healthy. It has definitely had its moments and still does!

If your sourdough starter is feeling a little sluggish, here are some tips I’ve used for strengthening my sourdough starter and getting it to consistently double in size again:

Tip 1: stir your starter between feedings. 

Tip 2: feed your sourdough starter a little bit of “superfood” a.k.a. rye flour. Simply replace 1/2 of your normal flour with rye flour for 2-3 days until your starter begins perking up a bit, then go back to your regular flour.
