TMC Pottery Australia on Instagram: "Have you ever made a bowl using this technique before? Generally, I pull my bowls up from the base upwards, slowly bringing the clay out to get the shape but this time around, I decided to actually open it from the inside out to see whether or not it would give me a different look One of the most important things when you are with throwing is to constantly try new techniques and figure out new ways, you can do the same thing. For this particular bowl, I decided to shape it a little differently, which ended up making it one of the most consistent bowls in terms of proportion I’ve made! This may be a new way that I make these shapes on the wheel head. Let me know how you make yours?! Or if this is a similar technique that you use, and as always, hope y Beginning Wheel Throwing, Throw A Bowl On Wheel, Wheel Clay Ideas, Beginner Wheel Throwing, How To Throw Pottery On A Wheel, Wheel Throwing Ideas Beginner, Pottery Decoration Techniques, Throwing A Bowl On The Wheel, Throwing Bowls Pottery Wheel

Supporting Clay Artists on Instagram: "Making a bowl from a cylinder when you are a beginner is smart because it gives you an opportunity to pull your walls up and then shape them, instead of doing both at the same time which can be tricky and cause problems for beginners. This is also a good opportunity to practice compressing the bottom of your bowl. Want to learn more? @clay_arts_support is offering a five week online class to improve your throwing skills. Issey 崔 Roquet on Instagram: "Very tricky trimming but oh so satisfying once sculpted. I get a lot more casualties when working with this shape than a typical mug/bowl shape. There’s a lot of steps that can go wrong where the piece can lose balance. You might wonder why I choose to throw this in one piece and then carve my way through, instead of piecing three pieces together. Maybe I’m sadistic (lol) but mainly I think that attaching separate pieces runs the risk of breaking in the firing. And achieving a spherical shape in the middle that’s nicely centred is also preferably done by trimming. All in all, excited to play with making more of these 😊 I do enjoy a good challenge. Check out the two previous videos to see how I throw & carve the inside of the foot ✌🏼 #satisfying #pottery Pottery Wheel Mug Shapes, Pottery Forms Shape, Pottery Vase Shapes, Pottery Feet Ideas, How To Pottery, Ceramic Bowl Shapes, Throwing Inspiration, Advanced Pottery, Pottery Wine Cups
