No one was hurt while making these photos, I mean, a few bumps and bruises but who's counting. When I first started shooting photos I had no idea how to use photoshop and I had a passion for levitation photography and other forms of anti-gravity trickery. My friends were always willing to practically fall down or balance themselves in dangerous positions.

Two years ago, San Diego photographer Edward Honaker was diagnosed with depression—that moment represented the beginning of an arduous process of coming to grips with his own self-defeating tendencies and representing them in his art. As he told the Huffington Post, “All I knew is that I became bad at the things I used to be good at, and I didn’t know why. ... Your mind is who you are, and when it doesn’t work properly, it’s scary.” His self-portraits have a pleasingly elemental quality…

I developed this concept and directed the photoshoot for a Dutch comedian. I always love creating images with a twist, especially when there is some weird humor in it! In this show burden of evidence the comedian thinks a lot of heavy thoughts and convicts himself. So I literally made his head really big and heavy.
