If you think these estranged parents have a script, you’re not wrong.

Estranged parents: “Help! Help! We spent years treating our children as less than and now we want all the perks that come with treating them with love and respect.” It’s 2024, and we’ve fixed the “but they’re your parents” glitch. Adult children who feel loved and respected by their parents work to stay in relationship with said parents and adult children who don’t feel loved and respected by their parents can estrange said parents, no guilt attached.

Not all parent-child relationship is positive. When parents and children choose to withdraw from one another, this Parent-Child Estrangement can last for long.
