The secret garden coloring book CLOSE UP of gazebo two page spread. Colored by Dayna Brown with Prismacolors, Caran D'ache Pablos, and Polychromos pencils. The background is soft pastels done first. I erased excess pastels off of the shapes in the picture (like leaves and birds) worth an eraser before spraying with workable fixative. The colored pencils are some over the top of the workable fixative.

A while ago, I wanted to add a bit of nature to my sketchbook. So, I decided to draw gardens. But, I wasn't sure how to start. I looked at my own garden and felt overwhelmed by all the details. The flowers, the leaves, the way the light fell on the path—it all seemed too much to capture. I realized I needed to simplify things. Starting with basic shapes helped me see the garden in a new way. Step by step, I learned how to draw various elements of a garden in a way that was easy and fun. I

lots of details in this picture. use castle color pencils. close to prima color pencils but not as waxy. Am quite happy with how this picture turns out.
