It’s kind of wild It’s just never come up on this blog before, but I HATE holsteins. Bottom 10 cow breeds for me. I hate how they’re so common they account for the majority of milk produced. I hate that they’re the “default” cow to the point where some don’t even know cattle HAVE other colors. I hate their tiny horns (IF THEY EVEN HAVE THAT. LOSER ASS HORNLESS COW) and their painfully massive udders.

Been a really long time since I’ve watched Daredevil but I do remember coming away from it feeling like it presented a pretty compelling internally-consistent moral justification for the vigilante thing. You’re not planet-crackingly powerful, it’s just that you can hear, in detail, every awful thing your neighbors are doing to each other, every night that they’re doing it. You can’t not know and you can’t pretend not to know and when the kid tells you the next day that he just fell down the stairs you can’t fall back on the provided ambiguity to absolve yourself of your responsibility to act. When my brothers were younger I wanted to teach about misogynistic tropes in media without scaring them off by presenting the topic right out the gate as serious and aggressive and intimidating so I pointed out one day that movie dudes usually only ever have three motives- 1. Wife, 2. Daughter, 3. Dog.
And now whenever we watch a movie together and a dude character is about to reveal their angst backstory we take guesses if it’s gonna be 1, 2, or 3.
Which is specifically the most fun to do in bad B-list action movies because you can say “It’s a 1” as it starts and then ten minutes later the ham-fisted Macho Man Tough Guy quietly mentions being married once and you can put your hands in the air and go “AYYY IT WAS 1” like your team just scored a sportsball goal
I know I’m not the first person to say this but fandom’s seeming need to shove any character dynamic into some kind of familial role (siblings, father-son, mother-daughter etc) increasingly feels just as stifling and dismissive of platonic love as making every relationship romantic does.
I dunno man do you view all of your close friends as siblings cause I sure don’t. and I definitely don’t think of them as parents
like “found family” is called that because it is a group of people that you love as fiercely and unconditionally as society dictates you should love your family. not because everyone can literally fit neatly into the role of mother-father-children.
if I were to be really cynical l’d say an underlying reason behind this is just to make sure no one ships a ship that you dislike. if you can loud enough about them being “siblings” for it to become fanon, then shipping them romantically becomes icky and weird and “basically pseudo incest” even if there’s nothing in the source material to back those feelings up
