Charlotte on Instagram: "Every year I harvest hazel to build plant supports 🌳 This year I thought I’d try something different by weaving ash splints (the ones harvested in my last reel) through the poles, rather than working with more hazel. This has given me a chance to get a feel for the ash before working on more intricate weaving projects. The splints were soaked before use to increase flexibility. When the garden is still looking pretty bare, there is something really reassuring and uplifting about busying myself in preparation for what is to come. Harvesting canes and brush; building structures and supports; mulching pathways - all become creative acts in building form. Like preparing the future homes for the flowers and edibles that are just coming to life in the greenhouse 🌱🌼 Become Creative, Harvest Art, Garden Plant Supports, Twig Crafts, Twig Art, Garden Poles, Willow Weaving, The Greenhouse, Increase Flexibility

The long dark winter has finally ended 🌞 and the sun has woken up the garden with real urgency! Everything is leafing out and growing before our eyes.

Hazel structures like these are an elegant solution to lush, frothy growth that becomes top heavy and requires a little extra structural support.

Before long the entire thing will be covered with blooms and foliage, but while we wait, the frame itself is welcome decoration ☺️
