The Mispillion River Lighthouse stood at the entrance to the Mispillion River from the Delaware Bay to help guide vessels to the shipbuilders at the inland port of Milford. The lighthouse has an odd history. Was there really a need for it? Why did they build a wooden land based light in an area subject to erosion and flooding? It is also a phoenix, literally rising once again from the ashes. It all started way back in 1831.....
