PROOFING "COMMUNITY"

We rolled some ink on the "COMMUNITY" key woodblock today to proof & transfer the image to color blocks. We'll now be busy drawing & carving the 4 color blocks… onward!

"LOG" Woodcut // Blue Block Carved

The blue block is all carved! "LOG" will be a color woodcut print, printed from 4-5 wood blocks. Colors will layer to create a lush & vibrant world in miniature! 3 additional color blocks are in progress. The block above makes blue, green, brown & purple in the print. We just transferred this image onto the other blocks so we can color in the new plants (lily, fern) with the other blocks. Otherwise, ready to carve! Coming really soon! Pre-order soon for a deal…

Tugboat Printshop on Instagram: "Testing top rolls for the 3-block “REFLECTING NARCISSUS” woodcut. Greens from 1st 2 blocks printed are more minty now, carved more shadows in, these test prints are looking nice! I have this on pre-order in my shop right now—I’ll be going into production on these & the “LADDER TREE” woodcut in the coming week. Always wish my process could be faster but it’s only in the slow crafting that I get to the *a-ha!* moments in any on my color schemes…and then I have to teach myself exactly how to lay the rolls down. Before rolling ink a carved block, we usually sneak in a quick rubbing to see how the carving went. Pictured here is the "OVERLOOK" key. It's so neat to see the carving appear on paper as a drawing once again!
