Vfx concept art

A whimsical burst of magical particles reveals an ominous and powerful orb that can cause great damage. This original VFX is my personal interpretation of VFX Apprentice's "Wispy Cloud" exercise (www.vfxapprentice.com). All meshes were created in Blender. All dissolve maps and textures were handpainted with the exception of the orb's dissolve, which was used from the class. A big shout-out to the VFX Apprentice community for giving feedback and helping along the way!

This is a concept I made based on some of the things thought by VFX apprentice. Although it took longer than I had hoped for I had a blast working on this and will definitely try and find more time to do concepts. Big thanks to Jason Keyser for feedback and the awesome VFX apprentice community for being such a motiving & helpful group of people! One day I might do an attempt to create it in 3D.

Hi everyone, this is my entry that has gotten an honorable mention in the artstation challenge for the VFX design category.
