In fact visual qualities that characterize Michelangelo’s Last Judgment in the Sistine ceiling can be found in the majolica of Xanto, which dates from somewhat earlier. It is well known Xanto used habitually prints, however it seems that Michelangelo was similarly impressed when he returned to Rome and to painting in the 1530s. Both artists in their different ways one meeting the expectations and taste have and elite audience.
