When Tarun Tahiliani, one of India's top fashion designers, met Veena Advani, a designer living in New York, in Goa 10 years ago, the two became good friends. Despite being a very modern city, Singapore is also blessed by having a legacy of lovely old colonial houses. Although many have been demolished and replaced with something more modern, or converted into commercial properties, many remain as dwells. Known as Black and Whites, these distinctive houses are dotted around where I live, and this one on Chatsworth Avenue, despite being a little run down and perhaps not fully occupied, is one of my favourites.
