It was a no brainer for me when choosing how to glaze. These were crying out for Cosmic Sky inspired glaze chips to match our mugs and bowls I've been making for our own personal use. Making my own chips in individual colours allows me to build up a colour palette on these pieces, and not be left to chance. Using Mayco Cordovan and Birch chips on a Birch base glaze, adding Mayco Colbalt Wash Dots. Planning to use these on some large plates and platters over the next few days. Love the surprise element of mystery Chips collected from brush water remnants, but also enjoying creating a set of plates with a consistent combo. Hence specific colour chips needed to be made. I have many potters message me asking how to make your own chips, and I realised I hadn't shown this recently. I have to admit I have become somewhat obsessed with Chips. I enjoy both mystery Chips and single colors Chips, but now experimenting further to see the varying results on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. The plastic sheets I use are stationery wallets which have been lightly sanded down to remove the gloss coating (enabling the glaze to stick and not pool? So therapeutic and a great way to recycle old Glaze too.
