I note this would make it even more annoying for me to actually use Flow, unless the new wikitext editor is first fixed to work with the It's All Text browser add-on.

I've addressed this by adding a preference (that's enabled by default, but which you can disable) that controls whether VE is used. If you disable this preference (or if your browser doesn't support VE), the plain textarea fallback mode will be used.

My patch for this is now ready for review.
