wait let me get on this level
However. steamVR was the problem. so I can’t actually see anyone’s messages in VR since steamvr is what does the chat overlay. to work around this i will be installing an addon that reads chat out loud as text to speech. which will probably end very badly for me
Does anyone know what the Nubby’s Number Factory world record is because I think i am currently holding it
Round 333 and the code crashed

ok i upgraded my gpu from the radeon 5600 XT to a 2080 super and literally everything about VR is working so much better
EXCEPT
last night when i tried to enter whiterun while streaming it performed so bad that steamvr crashed and my entire PC was stuttering like crazy. whiterun loads just fine at full frames when OBS isn’t open but the second I open OBS everything on my pc crashes. i tested it off stream, it’s not even the strain of streaming it’s the software itself. What could possibly be causing this? this is the literal only thing performing worse than my radeon. i have the FUS modpack installed so my thought is it’s one of those city enhancing parallax fuck ass mods but that doesn’t explain why it runs perfectly when OBS isn’t open - it does that even with the OBS preview off so it’s not that either. it’s like a very specific kind of computer stuttering like something with the two programs interacting wrong
that’s part of the problem - i can’t tell, because it stutters so hard i literally can’t go into the desktop view mode in VR to view my task manager, and the second i leave the VR boundary, my computer stops stuttering and everything loads perfectly fine. it’s the same CPU i used with my radeon 5600 XT, though, and it could load whiterun and run OBS at the same time despite being a worse GPU
ok so i tried switching OBS to cpu encoding instead of GPU and i got everything running really smoothly and i was even able to peek at task manager from under my headset. however, whenever i would open the steam VR overlay, or leave the VR boundary and come back in, the “vrcompositor” process on steam would take up 100% gpu function, and no matter what i closed out of, it didn’t go back down until i closed out of steam VR. is this a steam VR problem???
[Sees a post i dont like] okay so were all just encouraging this obvious notefarming blogslop now?
more of you could do to comment this sorta stuff
pissvortex I saw a video of a guy in a pool in thailand where a bunch of macaques(?) start gathering around the edge of the pool and he eventually jumps out after one lunges at him. would a person be able to scare them off? and if not, would they be able to kill you?
i also saw that video. macaques are very aggressive but it’s mostly bluffing. i honestly think it would be more likely for that large of a group to scare the person off rather than being scared off (that’s what happened in the video). they honestly would not bother killing the guy (monkeys rarely maul people to death all things considered, very energetically costly and straight up hard to do) but if one of them bit/scratched him to scare him off they could give him a disease which may or may not kill him. if they give him herpes b though that usually kills people untreated.
