Part of how authoritarianism works is telling you that you can’t stop it. And you can’t stop it by yourself. But it wants to stop the train of thought there and let you fall into despair.

moment of unspeakable beauty today when one of my coworkers called another coworker “judas” for not splitting a can of white monster with her, and i got to watch the guy who sits next to me open a new google tab, type in “jeudis,” and say quietly to himself “french thursday…?”

years ago my coworker was modelling some shelving he wanted in cad and for some reason thought the word “edging” was a better label than simply “edge”. He asked me how to spell “edging” and while i tried to figure out how to tell him he didn’t want that word, he typed it into google, got the result, sat quietly for a bit then said “well, that’s not right.”
