Overall it means the fees needed to pay for a basketball membership or basketball equipment are going to be a bit expensive. (You're gonna have to pay more than you think)

A: "I saw the tired basketball player leaning against the locker" means that when you looked at him, he was already leaning against the locker. It is a longer action over a longer period of time. You didn't see the start and finish of the action.

"I saw the tired basketball player lean against the locker" means that when you looked at him, he was not leaning against the locker. But while you are looking at him, he leans against the locker. It is a sudden change in action, and you saw the change in action.

Another example:
"I saw you sitting in the bus" means you saw somebody while they were in the middle of the action 'sitting' in the bus.
"I saw you sit in the bus" means you saw somebody change into the action of 'sitting.' First you see them walk to the chair, then they sit on the chair.

A: It would be along the lines of. "I used to play Basketball for the team." or "I've played Basketball for the team. Both are fine, both sentences are used in the past tense.

The second sentence, "I saw the tired basketball player leaning against the lockers," means that you just came to the scene and saw the player leaning already. You saw the action that had already happened but was still happening.

You also can't say, "He is in the basketball team." in US English, although I think it's okay in British English.

So in the basketball team example, you are "on" a team of people all working towards the same goal = winning.

If you are in the music club, you are part of a group of people who are all interested in music, but who are not necessarily working together towards a common goal.

I don't know if this is 100% accurate, but I thought it was interesting.
